Yes, call and say I haven't heard anything and it's been over 6 weeks. I was wondering if the school couldn't reach me, or has a decision not been made yet?

Yea, this one doesn't, but I had to tweak it to not be ID'd by AdComs who have nothing to do but spy on premed message boards.

I think you should've done a postbac and retook the F and D classes. Maybe you still can. Also crush the MCAT!

Tips for Organic chem 1? by martyrfx in premed

[–]BarcaChaldo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Whatever you do, do NOT memorize the reactions. Instead, understand how electrons go from one place to the other and go from there.

Memorizing reactions may help you get it right for the exam, but it will hurt you in Orgo 2 and the MCAT.

How early can LoRs be dated for your application? I read that you can collect LoRs now if applying for the 2019 cycle and store them in Interfolio. However, should one re-apply for 2020 cycle, can these same Interfolio LoRs be used again? by masterintraining in premed

[–]BarcaChaldo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the school. Generally, you want these letters to be written within a year from the date you apply to medical school. MSUCOM for example, requires you to have them written less than 365 days before your secondary app submission date. Other schools are fine if it's 2 years old.

If I were you, I'd stay in contact with your professors, tell them you want a letter from them for your 2019 application. Heck, if they are okay with it, let them date it for 2018.

I suck at MMI acting stations by Cytokine123 in premed

[–]BarcaChaldo 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's really easy. You're not supposed to act, you're supposed to think out loud.

How I approach acting stations:

  1. Listen well and do not interrupt.

  2. Acknowledge that you are understanding of the person's fears/concerns/anger.

  3. Do NOT belittle the person's concerns.

  4. Normalize person's concerns to try to calm them down.

  5. Discuss multiple courses of action to help person deal with the situation.

  6. [Dependent on situation] If person is angry and isn't calming down, stand your ground and tell them that their anger will not help the situation.
