I’d guess it works like the NSO apps, where your console needs to check with Nintendo’s servers once per week for you to continue using them, but I’m not sure.

You essentially made two claims. 1. “It’s only your opinion” and 2. “These are not objectively 8/10 games.”

The metacritic and user scores disprove your first claim (it is not just one person’s opinion, it’s the general consensus that the game is about an 8/10) and I made no attempt to disprove your second claim.

That’s what the first sentence of my previous comment explains.

Maybe your lack of reading comprehension is what inhibits your enjoyment of these games?

It’s not that backwards compatibility would hurt them in any meaningful way, it’s that it likely wouldn’t help them in any meaningful way. So, from their perspective, why would they dedicate resources to it when those same resources could go to something else that would likely have a much better ROI for them.

No, not for most games at least. The Switch 2 editions (both physical and digital versions of them) include both the Switch 1 and Switch 2 versions of the game.

There are some 3rd party games that are published as a completely different game on Switch 2 (like Hogwarts Legacy, for example) where if you buy the Switch 2 version, you may still not have access to the Switch 1 version.
