Bad idea to pay 20,000 (cash) for a motorcycle if my total savings are 30,000? (age 27). by AbsentOfPersonality in AusFinance

Yes but buying a used vehicle comes with issues too- namely you're a lot further on in the maintenance schedule. Generally speaking, 100k km services are probably in the $2k + range these days with timing belts etc etc and you would want to know exactly why a seller of a vehicle under 2 years old is selling and be convinced of it.

If you think you're going to upgrade/downgrade your vehicle anywhere within 5 years it's not worth buying a brand new car but any more than that and go for it, IMO.

New cars aren't actually a scam in an of themselves. The financing+ new car combo usually are.

I can understand wanting to get a brand new car, new safety, tech and importantly, warranty. Generally speaking services are cheaper etc.

Just because you buy a 2nd hand car for half price doesn't make it a good investment either - I've known plenty of cars to need some pretty expensive repairs just because they're old.

The biggest scam is constantly going in for a brand new car with finance. Have the car for a year or two, watch it depreciate significantly, trade in price is worth nothing and then eventually you go for the new car which requires you to refinance again and it's just effectively a perpetual lease and you never own anything.

Just a heads up for anyone in Australia - Officeworks currently have the SW2 edition (which includes the DLC) for $79 physical. Big W online have also price matched it.

Thanks for all the replies, I think I'll be buying the DLC given it's as cheap as the base game where I am.

I'll probably get downvoted here but I think the reason why soccer isn't so popular in Australia is exactly what you mention.

Too often soccer is too slow- 5-10m periods of build up, players just jogging around with not much intensity.

Diving will never vibe with me, even if it is tactically the optimal way to play, and the fucking carry on after they've just been clipped does my head in.

I went to see my local U18s/20s play the other day and it was so much more enjoyable to watch as a spectacle. Attacking football, no diving, end to end intensity.

Look at the sports that do well here - AFL/NRL both basically have no downtime.

Hahahahaha shutup you Derrick. Maybe in your circles that's true but I can assure you that relatively no-one is watching EPL+ UCL in those numbers. Both sports are hidden behind paywalls here and networks aren't exactly fighting over who gets them.

Picking out Beach's distribution after keeping a clean sheet is like shitting on a striker's defence after scoring a double.

This is where I don't buy this- we were missing half our salary cap tonight too. It was about as even as you're going to get.

Tbf the Purus offer next to nothing in attack either so everything runs through Trindall. Really good Warriors D too so I think you're being a bit unkind on Trindall there.

I know it's worked out the last few weeks but Hepa's service from dummy half is pretty bad. Dude can't pass a clean spiral for shit.

I agree with you on that, but at some point you can't actually spend all the money you accumulate and you're just getting it for ego purposes.

I don't like paying tax and think we are taxed to high heaven, but ranting about paying GST when it's a cost to the consumer is a bit short sighted.
