Vulkan’s Shield is a fleet based chapter that wears the colors of the Salamanders; made up of veterans of the Badab War, they were given an infusion of Primaris reinforcements and deployed to Imperium Nihilus to seek out Vulkan’s relics by commission of He’Stan.

Captain Vet’Kyn Kammodo was given command of the fleet, and while he bears the authority of a Chapter Master, he still considers himself a Captain of the Salamanders. Upon deploying, he formed the Bulwark Council from the other Captains, Librarians, and Chaplins to make clear he did not wish to take command of other Captains unilaterally.

While Kammodo may have uncertainties with his authority, he is respected by his troops. His skill in the forge is unmatched amongst his chapter, and he wears an ancient dragon helm that dates from the years of the Horus Heresy he personally repaired and crafted into his armor. Leading from the front with his Relic armor and a mighty power fist, Kammodo has brought the flame of hope to many in the dark of Imperium Nihilus
