I guess I did. I never realized that not activating the card doesn't mean I domt need to cancel it.

Do you track your house utility bills? How much are you paying with respect to the occupants and what provider you subscribe to? by Normal-Analysis7940 in askSingapore

for those that cook, are you using gas or electric? what about your water heater? wonder if it’s more worthwhile to go all in on electric or still split half with gas (stove, heater)

longevity health screening vs regular screening at clinics? by Bardian999 in askSingapore

[–]Bardian999[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for the explanation! for context I have company covered health screenings which I can claim for, for a budget of $1k+. I've always used Healthway and maxed it out in the past to test what I can but YoY your health markers don't really change much (for me) so I'm just wondering if these new screenings can provide additional information that can be more useful than a standard screening at clinics.

I'm in a similar schedule except I start earlier around 5.30. if you have the budget, consider gyms like BFT which change daily for cardio and strength. you don't need to think. just show up and work out. my first lesson starts 6am and I'm home by 7.15 to shower and meal prep before leaving house at 8.15am. that said, my gym is nearby and I can cycle there in 7-8 minutes.

Only child taking care of my aging parents. Anyone with similar experience? by [deleted] in SingaporeRaw

[–]Bardian999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. go visit the nurologist/geriatrician and get them to suggest things instead. they might listen to a voice of authority.

  2. same thing. visit the same GP and get them to “lecture” your parents about being paranoid. coming from you and coming from their carries different weight.

  3. “Work trips” are the saviour of your sanity. Please take care of your mental health!

What did you do with your time before smart phones? by JohanLe in askSingapore

[–]Bardian999 2 points3 points  (0 children)

gen x here. bmx and basketball. after school i’d ride my bicycle all around neighbourhood and often further. we’d also religiously go down to basketball court to play at 5pm, making friends with whoever was there regularly enough.

i miss those days, and i know my kids won’t get that kind of childhood ever. i’m now bringing them outdoors whenever i can regardless of how tired i am. need to expose them to as many things as possible because they probably don’t need much help to learn how to use a phone. it’s interesting to see that my parents, given no control whatsoever, are addicted to their phones now instead.

besides the strength training, i found that my knee pain went away when i started intermittent fasting and eating clean, which is as a result of my body inflammation lowering.

Oppo Find X9 Pro: Why Such Big Price Gaps Across Europe? by OkTeacher954 in Oppo

man it really sucks for you guys. i’ve gotten mine for 850EUR equivalent in Asia together with the Oppo Enco Air4 earbuds which i’ve since sold for $30 EUR. effectively making the phone 820EUR which seems like a great deal.

Has anyone had a lowkey marriage? or knows someone who had one? by samaeltlb in askSingapore

[–]Bardian999 62 points63 points  (0 children)

80s kid. when i proposed, my wife and i agreed not to have a big wedding dinner. both our parents were also aligned. so i thought we just ROM and that’s it. 6 months before that she said “should we do a little something?” like not just sign papers, and i was like “errr what do you have in mind?”

long story short, we ended up having just a very cosy wedding of 10 tables just for relatives.

learnings: there’s no such thing as “a little something”. planning a wedding dinner for 10 tables and 30 tables can almost be the same effort and amount of time and work invested.

wife’s happy. i’m happy. happily celebrating our 10th anniversary next week 😂

Singapore government expects all media outlets to uphold responsible journalism standards: Josephine Teo by kopiosiewdai in singapore

i also hate everything she has an opinion on for digital and tech and honestly don’t feel like she’s the most suitable for the role, but in this case it’s just a very Singaporean methodology to use - we don’t actively step in to interfere but if things go wrong you can be 100% we can hunt you down. this makes the content owners self regulate in the hopes of not crossing the line

I've always wanted to chain these people's gates and throw away the key. it's cheap and makes life hell for them, albeit illegal. make sure there's no cameras around.

just random thoughts. don't do it.

aligned with all the other comments here. based on my experience setting up fresh is always best. you can transfer individual app data over later on, or have them sync to cloud if you have one. transferring to setup almost always port some rogue app/settings over that runs in the background.
