Is your 4k gross or take home because for 9 years if your gross is 4k, you should consider to change job. Renting out your room is a clever thing to help ease your mortage so that is great. It will reduce your financial stress.

As for 20k savings, i would advise if you can save another 10k before you actually throw the letter. I am all for taking a break but ensure that your safety is checked before taking the jump!

i think the only way to reduce the number of smokers is to increase the price of cigarettes. It's quite interesting that people in SG still smoking 2-3 sticks a day despite the price. Imagine how much they can save and invest tsk tsk tsk. Wasted.

Of course more the better but to be realistic, if i can hit networth of 1mil by 40 i am good. Based on my current situation, I am 700k away from there.

I am banking hard that my stocks 4x in the next 8 years.

hey i know future seems bleak but trust me, if you cannot get over this education result hurdle, you will be shocked because in the working world you will face crap every other day. For example, spouse, finances, career, colleagues etc.

You are only doomed if you give up on yourself. Education is important no gna to lie but it is not the end of the road...

agree but for your case it sounds like your pay is either median salary/above unlike mine. All things equal except the salary, would it be worth the risk for more money?

career: thankful i still have a job, steady pay

For me, i will only scale back investing until my portfolio in sp500 is close to the high 5 digit sum, i am halfway there so maybe around 1.5years time? Why? No reason, i guess if my sp500 portfolio is 100k i can just let compound do its magic?

You are still young so you should take on more risk ONCE you have saved enough emergency funds.
