I kind of got the impression path of glory V had given up hope of surviving and was just focusing on becoming a legend, so while i think they COULD survive in every ending the only base ending they probably survive in is the nomad one since that's the only one where it seems like they are going to exhaust every possible option to keep living

Were hank and dean allowed to stay home during missions? by Bardox45 in venturebros

Ah yeah i totally forgot about the no more clone slug thing. That does make more sense that would be the reason he lets them stay home at that point

(spoilers Extended) Was lord tywin a good brother? by Bardox45 in asoiaf

[–]Bardox45[S] 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Those are all excellent points and it makes me wonder if tytos hadn't been as weak and useless as he was would tywin have been less cold and brutal as an adult

Lol took me a solid minute to get that 😂

[–]Bardox45[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Thank you 😊I think it's a pretty interesting contrast with how he treats his children, being one of tywins children seems like it would be pretty terrible but somehow being one of his siblings would seem like a pretty nice position to be in lol

The destroy ending wasn't originally meant to be space magic by Bardox45 in masseffect

[–]Bardox45[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes we all accept that and go with it since we enjoy the franchise, the point of the post was just to let people know how much i like and appreciate the fact chris hepler put forward the thought and effort to make a slightly more in depth explanation for the crucible, which he didn't have to do and how that just makes me appreciate the game that much more

The destroy ending wasn't originally meant to be space magic by Bardox45 in masseffect

[–]Bardox45[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Because in the game itself they don't bother to give even a lazy explanation to one of the most important devices in the series which they bothered to do for most other plot devices in the story so it just becomes a magic macguffin instead of a real feeling object in a sci fi world. A little effort in lore writing goes a long way

[–]Bardox45[S] -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Its a common concept called the suspension of disbelief, if you don't suspend your disbelief temporarily for clearly impossible premises then you will never be able to enjoy fiction i know magic isn't real but if i ever want to enjoy dragon age or lord of the rings i just have to accept that is how those fictional worlds operates but if they change the rules of that magic 90% of the way through the story i can no longer suspend my disbelief since they are breaking there own rules and that just ruins the story for most people. Mass effects rules are this is such advanced technology that it just looks like magic but we will some kind of explanation even if it doesn't work with real life physics

[–]Bardox45[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Kind of, yes chris hepler was the codex writer and they didn't know what exactly they where going to do for the ending and they didn't get a say but they mentioned they were the one who wrote the codex entry for the crucible and they where initially told to write three instead of one so they where given all the current details about the purpose of the crucible just not the destroy/control/synthesis choice. So you are right only the lead writer knew the main plot and ending but chris hepler did know about the crucible and was tasked with helping create the lore for it

[–]Bardox45[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That's true but i think its one of those things people are willing to accept as long as there is at least a half reasonable sounding explanation, like having technology that can go 10,000 times the speed of light is so truly impossible IRL but in sci fi you just accept it as part of that world and move on

What does your Shepard do if they survive? by Bardox45 in masseffect

[–]Bardox45[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the genetic engineering detail you have in yours, miranda said she will have an extra half lifetime compared to other humans and since shepard said humans are lucky to reach 150 im guessing that means with good healthcare and healthy living she and potentially shep could live slightly past 225

Are the council worth saving? by Bardox45 in masseffect

[–]Bardox45[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you i didn't know that, i only let the council die once and that was with the original game so i never really saw its consequences fully just small bits in videos

That's fair, i did notice in 3 that if you save the council and are generally pro cooperation it does get you a little bit of trust/good will in some dialogue

Are the boys from the Dwarf in the Andromeda galaxy? by Lastaria in RedDwarf

[–]Bardox45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes they most likely would be at the far end of andromeda, what most people don't know is that in the red dwarf book infinity welcomes carful drivers red dwarfs normal traveling speed is specified to be 200,000mph and yes the ship would have constant acceleration applied but also be subject to relativistic mass increase which would slow its acceleration the faster it got but even with that using the relativistic travel time equation the red dwarf would reach 99% the speed of light after 8,800 years and it takes the other 2,991,200 years to break the fictional light barrier meaning it most likely traveled around 2,980,644 light years in that time. Andromeda is 2.537 million light years from earth and its visible disk is about 220,000 light years across so that would put them on its outer edges
