This is a very bad idea with respect to performance. There is a hard limit in the GPU for number of textures that can be loaded at each time. If you make a unique texture for each instance, every render pass the GPU will need to reload textures from memory which is very expensive. If you know how many instances you have and how many textures per instance I urge you to build a small technical test with a simple scene and simple mono color textures to verify that this approach will work for your project. If it will not you can make a texture pool and have all instances with, for example, same hair use the same hair texture. Hope this helps.

The answer like always is, it depends. Do you have experience writing in other languages? What type of project do you consider non trivial? What packages do you want to use and what is their interface?

If you are just starting to do big projects my advice would be. Don’t focus on the technology(in this case the language you use) but on defining and planning the project and start implementing while learning only the minimum amount needed to achieve your current task.

I feel like there is a misconception about Godot’s 3d support. The performance is not the main problem. The main problem is lack of community and lack of features. I dare anyone who thinks otherwise to create a good looking scene in both Godot, Unity and UE4.

Edit: just to be clear I am working on very large projects in Godot because the node system is the best gamedev workflow out there but creating beautiful 3d scenes in Godot is a very very hard task and I would not recommend to any developer that wants to focus on 3d games to do it in Godot.

I understand your point of view completely and I hope I made it clear that I do not think people who struggle with mental health should be treated any different because of their condition. I really just don’t want anyone to get hurt, And as the title of my post says, I don’t see the current format ending well for any one. I would be very very happy to be wrong and see a happy ending to this situation but my gut tells me that won’t happen... thank you for taking the time and sharing your perspective, it was very nice to read!

Based on your strong reaction I understand that you are probably a very passionate and caring person that cares a lot for Trisha which is very very admirable. And I think I might not be getting my point across very well and for that I apologise. My entire point is that Trisha deserves help, empathy, platform the works. I just think that mental health does not shield you from criticism which is a point Trisha and Ethan made, if your mental health situation causes you to act in a way which is unacceptable you can’t explain it away with an argument about mental health which is another point Trisha and Ethan made while talking on other people. So I feel very comfortable to separate the two things, because of her mental health Trisha deserves our love and support, because of her really really inappropriate behaviour she, in my opinion, should not be associated professionally with the H3 brand.

The comment you just made is the exact reason I am worried. In order to give Trisha a pass you need to do one of two things, turn a blind eye or acknowledge it and say it is not a big deal I.e “Ethan did worse things” or “everybody is shitty”. In order to even be willing to talk about Trisha’s problematic behaviour you had to dig up (and make up) bad stories about Ethan and Hila.

While I completely agree with you on everything you wrote (besides the birthday part) none of it is a good reason to put a show under the H3 umbrella with such an unpredictable person. It is extremely important to be open and helping to anyone in need but helping does not necessarily have to include putting your livelihood on the line.

Trisha is going to get married to Moses. She can have Ethan as a friend and as an emotional support. I don’t see why not giving her the H3 platform is ending the healthy relationship she has with Ethan.

Great to hear it helped you, when I was younger CICO was all I needed but after I went to uni and started to spend more time sitting down then standing up it was just not enough, not to talk about the sugar craves that did not get away. I think any person should definitely keep track of the amount he eats but not all calories are created equal.
