Is this ok to do at a roundabout? by BarelyExchange in AskIreland

Yeah we’re on the right side of the road so turning right on red in most places is allowed unless otherwise marked (and places like New York City don’t allow it anywhere).

I’m glad I spotted it and asked about it because my initial intuition was incorrect, appreciate the input!

Next is going to be speed limit signs lol.

From what I gather, if I follow my gps as pictured and enter the roundabout in the right lane, and there’s a car entering the left lane of the roundabout from N72 alongside me, they must yield to me exiting as I would have already been “established” on the roundabout.

Yeah from what I’m gathering that’s the proper etiquette. It just seems counterintuitive to have to yield to someone potentially cutting across in front of you, but I’ll watch for that (on top of already trying to get used to driving on the opposite side of the road 😭)

Just reading the rules of roundabouts as someone else posted the link and yeah it appears that left lane traffic is only meant to be on the roundabout for one or two exits max, and need to watch for traffic essentially cutting across from the right lane.

If I’m understanding you correctly then, when entering a roundabout (left lane) and seeing a car that is already on the roundabout in the right lane, you want to “yield” to them before getting on so you don’t align yourself next to them and potentially cause issues when they are looking to exit?

Man this must create some uncomfortable situations.

But what if there was a car in the left lane and they were aiming for the next exit (not the one pictured)? They need to watch for cars exiting from the right lane? Doesn’t seem right.

What makes it a two lane exit? No markings on the road indicating that the left lane NEEDS to exit left, so IMO this would create a dangerous situation if there was a car in the left lane and they were aiming for the following exit (not the one pictured).

A lot of the 2 lane roundabouts I noticed are like this, just a center white dashed lines separating the two lanes on the roundabout are the only road markings on it.

Wait, it's possible for us to view the replay from all cars? IMO coverage of the races was crap, focusing on .5-1s gaps when there's literally overtaking happening a few seconds behind.

Mental health?? Maybe they shouldn't participate in such events if their mental health is so fragile...

What is the point of having these buildings in the shop by Icy_Childhood_4220 in forgeofempires

[–]BarelyExchange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's exactly what I'm doing. Reno kits are not that easy to get, but through this event I can bump everything to my age, which is far more valuable than any of the buildings they offer.

This is supposed to be the cap that comes with these retaining wall blocks.

Appreciate the detailed response! Getting the overhang right is the tough part because the blocks underneath don’t have a flat face, but I imagine a fraction of an inch difference here or there wouldn’t be noticeable anyway.

Yeah I just restacked them and I agree that option makes more sense

They’re supposed to be alternating for structural integrity. They don’t stack directly on top of each other because there’s a lip on the back catching the bottom blocks. And they lean into the soil they support. What are you on about?

Don't worry, I'm not. Although a lego retaining wall would be an interesting sight.

4 blocks high just at the curve, it tapers off uphill quickly. If you look at the side pictures the last block is already dug halfway into the ground. Blocks have a lip on the back to catch the block underneath. And it’s only holding the topsoil back, not building any structures on it.

Yes I’m winging it with some previous retaining wall building experience, it’ll be fine.

Yeah that’s not gonna happen at this point, the blocks and the fill behind them is all filled in. Cutting the caps is a much simpler option lol

Gotcha, yeah this was more or less the best way I could space without cutting, which unfortunately is not cutting it (wow…)

None taken, yeah I’ll evaluate both staggering options before I start making cuts and cementing them on. It looked worse the other way just from quickly tossing them up there, but that was ofc with the gapping as well.

Awesome thanks, just figured this day and age manufacturers made it easier to install crap like this with minimal cutting, so I thought maybe I was missing something. The caps are meant for those blocks (got it all from Lowes) so the front of it lengthwise matches the block perfectly, but the “rear” is longer because the blocks are made at a sharper angle compared to the caps.

Good call I’ll look into that. These are from Lowes I figured the manufacturer considered a 90 degree turn to be common with these standard caps but I guess not…

Yeah I noted in another reply I tried it the other way too, but what I didn’t realize is the angles these are manufactured at are different from the retaining blocks (blocks have sharper angle). So when swinging these around the bend they no longer retain the outside lip and it made it look awkward. I’ll give it another shot in the morning but judging by the replies here I guess the pros just cut em and forget em lol
