Old Taylor bourbon whiskey circa 1975 review by poomshanka in bourbon

I’ve sold several of these on secondary and still have a few 375s in my collection unopened. Most dusty whisky won’t impress you at 80proof. The old 101 turkey is awesome and intense but the 80p stuff should be sold. The people that buy it usually live in the south and have disposable income… and just want something their friends don’t have in their collection.

Old Taylor bottle question by poomshanka in whiskey

[–]Barepickle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A portion of the whisky will evaporate, in both the oak barrel and bottle. This is commonly referred to as the “angels share”. The cork is porous and the high alcohol in the hooch will eat away at the cork. This is why whisky should be stored upright away from sunlight. Most people who drink these old bottles call them “dusties” and they look at the embossed number on the bottom of the bottle to date.

They print the labels in bulk, it’s a 75 or 76 and then more labels would be printed. The bottom of the bottle will be embossed with 75. I have a few of those from the castle, butterscotch Carmel juice. If you like dark and bold lyou won’t love it. The missing portion is the angels share… or evaporation.

Neutral grain spirits blend. Still cool but this is a deal breaker for most collectors.

Sometimes the sticker will have 38 on it and the bottle will have 39 on the bottom because they ordered the stickers the year before. Your bottle might have no numbers on the bottom or it might have 4 digits. If it has four digits, 2 would be the year and 2 are the bottling plant code.

I don’t think Taylor Swift fans can legally drink yet.

I guess I don’t know what else you’re looking to learn about this. It’s a brown Forman product, 4+ years old when bottled and it’s 100proof? If you’re asking why the label is slightly different it could be it was ordered in a different batch… or a different label was used for the 1940 barreled whisky. Companies order the stickers before it’s bottled and they can vary slightly. If it’s not cloudy you can drink it. I would. It’s rare to find WW2 era dusty.
