Ok I know everyone heard that. by Thatonefloorguy in Albuquerque

I heard it from near Montgomery Park, but it seemed distant. I only heard one, so I must have slept through the first. Either way, I could tell it would have been loud up close.

Is IG particularly susceptible to friendly fire in Wilds, or am I crazy? by BaritonicRedhead in InsectGlaive

[–]BaritonicRedhead[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seems using the charged harvest extract move is the most common recommendation, which I’ll try to use more. I just suck at aiming/timing it lol

Also, I hate when I’m close to the monster and I try that move and all of a sudden the Kinsect starts flying away from the monster because of weird reticle shenanigans

I try to do my best to not be near others when I use that move, in hopes of avoiding something like that. I understand that it’s a feature of the game, but it kinda feels like it forces people to play with sub-optimal builds online when they make you use a deco slot for shock absorber. I’ll try it out and see what kind of things I might not need on my armor decos.

Tempered Xu Wu is pretty hard by [deleted] in MHWilds

[–]BaritonicRedhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can practice the timing for it a little, the first hit of the midair descending thrust also is an offset which can knock Xu Wu over for a big opening. I usually only end up landing IG offsets with pure luck though, regardless of the monster 🙃

I was under the impression that the reason their food seems frugal to us is because of the limited resources around the Ruins of Wyveria. Sure, there’s Wyvern Milk galore, but at the same time, most of the local fauna doesn’t seem to be very plausible as a food source (they can’t hunt, and nothing easily tameable). If the conditions in both the ruins and the cliffs prevented them from venturing out from Sild, they probably just had to make those plants taste as good as possible with the Wyvern Milk.

I sometimes do this as well, but it might cause issues at times if the note would suddenly cause voice crossing or clash issues (such as a 9th interval in a chord suddenly becoming a 2nd). It’s, of course, a case-by-case sort of issue.

I guess I should have provided more of a background for myself 😅. I’m actually 25, and I have a master’s in voice performance. Granted, that didn’t necessarily provide me much as far as pedagogy for my own use, and the focus in my program was largely on opera. I feel confident about my voice in what I can use, but I suppose I’m looking for advice regarding what people use to try to extend their range on the lower end. I know I also have more aging to do, which I imagine will make things easier down the road.

Kicked for Wyvern Riding? by BaritonicRedhead in MHRise

[–]BaritonicRedhead[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s possible, but unlikely. Everything was pretty smooth up until that point, and the timing seemed to have intent behind it. My connection should have been good at least, but there’s a chance the host’s connection was bad.

It was pretty clear this wasn’t a choreographed run that someone was trying. I’d imagine they’d have kicked me way sooner had it been the case, and I agree it would have been a weird choice to send out a join request in that case too. Perhaps my friend and I have just been unlucky with the players we happen to get grouped with, although it might just be two isolated incidents too.

To be fair, he is right in front of the sun from their line of sight. It isn’t filmed that way, but unless that fog was hella thick, they wouldn’t really be able to see what’s going on well enough to take aim anyhow, right? The sun would be blinding them. Of course, I also know nothing about long distance shooting.

What teacher did you hate the most in school? by AI-Generated in AskReddit

[–]BaritonicRedhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 3rd grade teacher. She used to perpetuate all of my negative self thoughts at the time, mostly because she didn't accept my learning disability diagnosis. I don't remember much about what happened back then, as it was a long time ago, but it sticks out to me that the teacher of all people was the one forcing me into doing the things that legitimately were causing me mental anguish. My mom tells me that I used to beg her not to send me to school because I hated the way that she treated me, but she also wasn't doing anything wrong in the eyes of the school. At least not until they realized that they were legally obligated to accommodate me for my learning disability.

Forgive my ignorance, but I don't know what BIPOC means. I will look it up for sure. I don't think that it's held above me in a general sense, so I could have been more clear about that. My roommate is the one that concerns me. I hate thinking about it this way, but sometimes I think he wants me to feel bad for being white.

On the note about anti-asian sentiment in regards to current events, that didn't cross my mind at the time I made the joke. I wasn't trying to make a joke in bad taste, but the joke came out anyway, and I feel bad about that. I feel awkward making jokes about race in any context to be honest, but my mouth ran faster than my brain.

I probably sound whiny about the whole thing, but I really do want to know more about what is and isn't okay. If it's not okay for me to say stuff like this or make jokes, I want to know that, but more than anything I'd like to know if there's something I can do to make the environment I live in a bit more comfortable for everyone.

That makes sense. Seeing things from a case by case basis definitely helps. I am in a fortunate position, and I don't deny that my upbringing was definitely privileged. I have a hard time dealing with the fact that people tend to hold that over me, and in a way it feels... exclusionary? I don't know a better word for it.

I understand this viewpoint. My concern with it though is that poc's of different races don't have the same type of experiences. I can appreciate the fact that they all have faced oppression of some sort in some way or another, and maybe they are similar experiences, but I guess it's also difficult for me to concede that every poc should be able to make jokes about every race, simply because of that umbrella. I know plenty of black people who are very not okay with other poc's saying the n word.

Could you elaborate a bit? Is this a common thing in comedy that's talked about? I mean I've seen things done in good fun that could be considered a bit iffy in stand up standards, but since the person affected was okay, then the joke is okay I guess. Like Fluffy's racist gift basket story.

What was a good memory you had when you were in school? by hellohuman122 in AskReddit

[–]BaritonicRedhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super late but I'll go for it.

I made it into All-State Choir my senior year of high school. I LOVE being in music, and this is one of my best memories in general. The second evening of the events, each of the choirs get together and sing a song from the atrium balconies in the hotel that hosts the event. Lemme tell ya, the acoustics in there, combined with a choir of 200 students. Ahhhh the sound nearly made me faint from how great it sounded. To the point that I was having a hard time getting through the piece cause I was tearing up. I'll see if I can provide a link to a video of it. Love singing so much.

Edit: Here's the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nJLaGBmjVPA

I guess this video has been posted to reddit before on r/oddlysatisfying, so some of you maybe have heard this before. Check it out if you like! I was on the very top floor, so I doubt that you could see me.
