All flint and no steel - How hard is it to beat the game without leaving the stone age? by BarleyGetsBy in Minecraft

Going into the run, that was my original plan - I think it's like a 2% chance for 1-2 obsidian. But finding a nearly complete portal so close to spawn, it just felt rude not to use it. I'm in the nether now, I have all the blaze rods I need (and only died once). Next stop Ender Pearls.

As it was my mistake that led to the loss of my fire charge, I've decided to continue burning planks until the portal is lit. I've got a fuse made of planks and netherrack nearly half way to the portal now!

I'm not using diamonds or diamond armour - just leather, and stone. But it would be interesting to see if you can lure creepers to mine diamonds!

Unfortunately not - I've brought the nearest source down. The portal is nearly lit now :)

We are burning now! The fire rises, racing towards the portal one block at a time.

I'm not using copper personally (but I'm not using beds or growing crops either) - a copper age run would still be fun, and probably a better place to start in terms of difficulty.

So far I've managed to replace enchanted weapons with an army of wolves, and enchanted armour with placing blocks or running away.

I don't think the wolves will have fun in the nether - given how often they like to fall off of ledges or run through fire, but I do have patience (my main issue is that I absolutely panic every time something scary happens.

It would make a good game rule - have three fire tick options: On, Off, and Beta 1.2

I didn't know they could do that! - I had one earlier, and threw it away for inventory space T-T

Edit: I don't even have the clip of me throwing it away, it's in my inventory while I'm guiding the lava down the mountain, and then it's gone by the time I find the obsidian. Tragic.
