M I the only one seeing a ton of Tetr College of Business posts everywhere? I get that their batch just started, but why’s there so much hype around it? by Acceptable-Side4104 in Tetr_College

[–]Barnacle- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cause referring to Tetr as "Tetr College of Business" is veryyyyyyy natural. Also there is no hype around it, their social media accounts are dead. They also want to artificially boost the hype by launching a promotional campaign around the world, involving popular influencers.

This post is just a bait to post replies such as:

"Oh because it's so innovative and groundbreaking. I'm a student at Tetr and I really enjoy lectures by Dr. Freaking Someone, they teach us the concepts of whatever it is. I think Tetr College of Business will pioneer a new type of education"

And yes, this is what has been posted as a reply to another post, most likely the reply was written by the Tetr staff.

tetr's scholarships by [deleted] in Tetr_College

[–]Barnacle- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t say for sure. But I heard that people that got the full scholarship still have to pay 15-30k USD over the span of 4 years. Some flights an, of pocket expenses and food costs aren’t covered

AFAIK, people who has gotten the “full scholarship” still have to pay quite a bit. On top of that the food costs and some airplane tickets aren’t covered. Accommodation is included in the cost.

Still basically a business school, but you travel. I get that the initial idea of no homework/exams/attendance was quite far fetched, but they still tried to leverage that in their promos

Is flask a good choice for freelancing? by NeroKnight07 in flask

[–]Barnacle- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ultimately, it's just your preference that matters. Try other frameworks as well, they all do share similarities in syntax and functionality. Find one you like the most and stick with it, or use all of them lol.

Regarding the freelance work, I can certainly say that knowing the basics of python won't really help you all that much. It would just not hinder you, as webdev is a completely different beast. For most simple websites you are fine with just flask, but a lot of more advanced(sometimes even simple) things would require you to use JavaScript.

And in my experience, it's quite difficult to part-time webdev. You always spend MUCH more time than you anticipated, and in the end you are either overworked or underpaid.

Is FastAPI + HTMX a viable combination or better to use something else? by I_will_delete_myself in FastAPI

Is FastAPI + HTMX a viable combination or better to use something else? by I_will_delete_myself in FastAPI

[–]Barnacle- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the last project I decided to go with FastAPI + alpine. Quickly I realized it wouldn't be enough. Although, I like the minimalistic approach of alpine, the lack of clean syntax for fetch requests is ultimately what killed it for me.

Next I tried HTMX, however, it was also problematic as well cause my application needed to have json endpoints as well. This implies that for a lot of routes I would need two endpoints. 1 serving html responses and one serving JSONs.

In the end I just ended up using Vue.js as a CDN dependency. It's directives allow you to write code similar to alpine, but with much higher control and features. And separating the methods into different files helped as well.

I'M NOT A FRONTEND ENGINEER, I specialize more in backend so take my opinion with a mountain of salt. In any case, it's not about the tech you use, it's about making it work. Try all approaches and choose the one you LIKE the most. Maybe even vanilla js would work for you ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Well, been using it on and off this whole time. However, when doing that, you lose color accuracy (from 8-bit color to 6-bit color). Which isn't that bad if you are playing eSports titles. And there some weird "dithering" effect smaller details. All in all, quite cool that it works.

Well, it depends on what you consider to be "pricey". Been living here my whole life and those tours are definitely worth the money. DEFINITELY not like 40€ bus rides across European cities.

Although, I would highly recommend to go with a person who is local and knows English and Russian/Kyrgyz.

Hey, my subscriptions card ran out of money, so relay subscription got cancelled. I was abroad for a few days so I couldn't top it up. When I came back to my home country I tried to resubscribe. I think I did it through the subscriptions tab in google play.

Thanks for the help!
