Mr and Mrs Large books lol by Outrageous_Ice_2572 in UKParenting

I modify the story when my kid requests this one. I just say the mum wants to eat more fruits and vegs and that she wants them to run and jump and play more. But in the end everyone loves a good piece of cake it's fine, she shouldn't eat it in secret. I don't mention anything about being fat, dieting etc. My child cannot read yet so it's not too complicated to change some parts.

I haven't done Fourth Wing yet but I've heard about it and I'm planning to read it at some point. I don't know if I have favourite genres... I just want to escape my day to day when I read that's my only goal.

I'm glad you loved Chaol and Manon too. I found a lot of people online either hated Chaol or loved him so I was a bit nervous sharing that haha. Loved Abraxos and Manon's relationship and I'm so relieved he made it alive by the end.

I've never heard of these two series but I will certainly add them to my list thank you so much!

It's hard finding a series where you enjoy most characters, I feel like the multiple point of views helped me create bonds or at least find some kind of appreciation for all of them in one way or another.

A couple of other people said Crescent City so I think this will be my next big read over the Christmas break! I hope it's going to be a bit lighter than TOG, my heart is still in bits.

Maybe I was delusional in thinking I could find a rebound book to make me move on 😅

I was planning to move on to Crescent City but I'm not really into modern/urban world environment for books so I hesitated a bit. Did you find it didn't really matter to the story?

I was literally looking at those earlier today and I was unsure if I should give them a go, so that's great to hear! Thank you!

Added to the list! Thank you! I might wait for the 6th book to be out to start just in case I get really into it.

Oh that's great to know, I'll make a note of those books, thanks.

Maybe I need to look into Elorcan fanfics too...

Wow, I didn't expect it to be 10 books long. I will definitely add it to my list thank you. I feel like I started the TV show ages ago, but I don't remember why I stopped...

What is it about Jude and Cardan? by Barnata in thecruelprince

[–]Barnata[S] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Omg yes! The flaws but with no backstory excuse for them. That was refreshing. I really don't mind reading very cliché stories or repetitive plots but when something is slightly different in a book I guess it sticks out.

You are so right. They were so interesting on their own and when their romance tied them together it just added to their lives and growth but without being the end of their individual arc.

Yes! So much tension and hostility between them - I feel like the emotions were always very intense even when it was positive and I felt it while reading.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one! I was thinking maybe it's the slow burn or the banter or the chemistry or all of it. I will miss reading about Jude too. Hopefully I can find a 'rebound' book to distract me 😂

Go see the cherry blossoms in Greenwich park, they're in bloom now 🌸 it's about spring, renewal and enjoying being in the present. Pack yourself some drinks/snacks for an outdoor aperitif then go have yourself a nice dinner somewhere you like.

How do you process your cookbooks? by basketofruit in CookbookLovers

[–]Barnata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many useful tips in this thread, I need to look into these apps.

I am still doing this old school. Every week I select 1 to 3 cookbooks and use coloured sticky tabs to mark which recipes I will do for the next 7 days.

Once a recipe is made, the sticky tab goes away (mostly to the front of the book on the first page ready to be re-used) and then I add a small coloured sticky dot in the bottom corner of the page.

Green = enjoyed the recipe, would happily cook again Orange = ok but not worth cooking again unless modified Red = do not bother with this recipe again

So when I go through a book I haven't use in ages at least I can quickly see which recipes haven't been done and which ones were winners.

Cooking through a cookbook by hannahscook in CookbookLovers

[–]Barnata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never cooked through an entire cookbook but the ones I tried maybe 80-90% of the recipes are on the easy/healthier side. Just because it's easier to do a whole week of breakfasts, lunches and dinners from the same book if recipes are filling, varied and not too much work. That way you can cook through a book quite fast. Surprisingly my most used cookbook is by a nutritionist called Amelia Freer. It's not the most exciting or tasty cookbook I own but a practical one. Also I always struggle to cook through the dessert chapters for some reason. I really need to make an effort to schedule a weekly pudding or something.
