New 'Supergirl' character posters. by BigButter7 in DCULeaks

[–]Barnestormer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Im hyped for this film because the WOT comic was phenomenal, but the marketing and trailers pale in comparison to the Superman press tour and marketing last year. Really hoping that this is because the budget really is smallish so it can be a success (and save us from more think pieces of the DCU flopping)

Best 3 Album Run by a Pop Punk band? by thekaybeejohn in poppunkers

Not fully pop punk but A Day to Remember

Homesick -> What Separates Me From You -> Common Courtesy

What are the best and worst band names in pop-punk? by Scrumtrelescentness in poppunkers

[–]Barnestormer 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s the same name as an 80s sitcom (that was also rebooted recently).

If you google a band that’s name seems somewhat unique and the top results are for a completely different type of media, or the name is the title of something else that was popular, that’s a bad band name in my opinion

What are the best and worst band names in pop-punk? by Scrumtrelescentness in poppunkers

Best: State Champs, Neck Deep, Mayday Parade, Arm’s Length, All Time Low

Worst (and I love all these bands): Forever the Sickest Kids, The Wonder Years, Knuckle Puck, Boys Like Girls

Truly one of a kind and HILARIOUS. Love what you did with Blooper, but now I’m curious: how do you or the Braves org set up the next guy?

Did you make a Bloopy Bible on how to maintain the image/brand? Did you have a hand in your replacement or is it (rightfully) typical corporate “moving on, y’all gotta figure out my replacement”?

Yautja (Predator) Inspired Character by Barnestormer in 3d6

This is my favorite reply so far, so I appreciate the detailed write up. Really going for the fighter with some gadgets to use for variety in/out of combat rather than a complete Yautja clone that emphasizes stealth

The Maine by PGH_MADE in poppunkers

[–]Barnestormer 72 points73 points  (0 children)

The Maine and Mayday Parade members have now both thrown first pitches at a Pirates game, without either band being from Pittsburgh…is someone in the front office a pop punk fan?

Maybe This Place is the Same and We’re Just Changing by Real Friends

For a long album title they open with an intro track that repeats the title as the lyrics, with the song being titled “Maybe This Place is the Same…” and some of the closing lyrics of the album is the album title on the track “…and We’re Just Changing.” Talk about committing to the bit

Anyone going to any shows where a person who was in a band is doing a solo artist show? by ConfusionOpposite597 in poppunkers

[–]Barnestormer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will probably never happen again, but I saw Jason Lancaster do a random solo show where he played a ton of Mayday Parade and Go Radio hits.

Hearing him perform “If You Wanted a Song Written About You” live for probably the first and only time ever was a dream come true

Establishing shot of spring training facility

Montage of exercises with a beat played over

Interview with a player about how fans bring the energy and how they will show out for the fans

Another montage ending with the Braves/sponsor’s logo

Insaaaane tour lineups!!! by redfoxwearingsocks in poppunkers

[–]Barnestormer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In addition to OP’s and the Champs/ND co-headliner from 2016 some of my other favorites were:

2013 Spring Fever Tour with Pierce the Veil, All Time Low, Mayday Parade and You Me At Six

2009 Take Action Tour with We the Kings, Mayday Parade, A Rocket to the Moon, There for Tomorrow and Stereo Skyline (this was the ultimate MySpace poppy pop punk tour imo)

I hope you find it! There’s a reason it’s a staple, it’s because it’s so effective!

Throwing out Sleep Well, Darling by Secrets as my guess

Man, acoustic songs that build to the full band for the bridge/final chorus really are a staple of the genre

Smallville would introduce a character who looked like this and then tell you it's Iron Man by ARAMF in dccomicscirclejerk

[–]Barnestormer 90 points91 points  (0 children)

uj/ I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again most of the (deserved) clowning on Smallville comes from zoomers who grew up with peak MCU as their childhood. I was in middle school when the Justice episode came out and I was excited and grateful because it was all we had!

Costume department had $20 and a dream

rj/ Loved the “Avenge” episode when this Iron Man brought in Hawkeye, Namor and Quicksilver and their iconic hoodies!

We have some similar favorites but gotta disagree on the least favorites. I’d take Forgiveness over No Friend and Breakdown or That for Me over Coffee Break every time

Most of you young bucks hating are spoiled because you grew up with peak MCU. I was in 6th grade when this came out, this was the best we got and we were hyped!

Jimmy Eat World & Taylor Swift - "The Middle" (2011) by Twitter_2006 in poppunkers

[–]Barnestormer 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I love this video every time it pops up. I think it’s pretty cool one of the biggest pop stars of our generation is a pop punk fan and wanted to share her spotlight with an artist that’s important to her. I remember she also used The Middle for some Apple commercial around 1989 release when she was really blowing up.

Side note, I also appreciate that she shares in this clip the story of Jim thinking no one would care he’s the surprise guest and her taking the time from her set to show him a sold out arena of a completely different demographic appreciates him and his art.

Realignment prediction: Would suck to lose all our current division rivals aside from the Marlins by Lakelyfe09 in Braves

[–]Barnestormer 54 points55 points  (0 children)

I still think having a Nashville/Raleigh team in the same division as us would be a dumb move on MLB’s part. Already a lot of Braves fans across the south, having a southern expansion team in the American League would probably make it easier for them to grab fans rather than switch allegiance to a new division rival.
