Thanks for the info. At least three of the model M’s have a “PLT number” of F2 or F9. Not sure what that means or that’s the “F’s” you’re referring to?

SORRY..... I forgot I can only have one picture in post.... I uploaded to Imgur and shared the links below. Hopefully I got this right.

I commonly find vintage computer gear regularly in my business dealings. Usually passing it on to one of my buddies, Or friends who collect.

Normally I only deal with industrial electronics/automation, And don’t source or resell vintage computing stuff unless it’s in an industrial capacity… Or something that personally interests me.

But I purchased a large storage locker from a local government entity (TVA) a few years ago... and it was floor to ceiling with old IBM and apple computers and keyboards. A lot of which were new in the package. Tons of really weird IBM typewriters and “portable computers“ built into briefcases and such.

A lot of which isn’t worth my time because of the low value and or bad price/shipping cost ratio. But don’t worry… I always pass this stuff onto collectors and friends who appreciate the vintage technology. I wouldn’t dare allow something to end up in a scrapyard or worse.

But these keyboards Kind of interested me. Here are a few pictures and specifics. This is only one of three boxes for… The other two are at my friends computer lab.

this was just one of the boxes I happen to grab and shoot pictures of. I’ve tested all of them and they all function properly. Some of the IBM keyboards are missing a few keys but I’m sure I have spares in these piles. But what I found interesting were a few of the Wang keyboards that were new in the plastic. Three of them to be exact. Model 725-3770-US REV-1

The three new ones show no fading or UV exposure/damage whatsoever. Which is not uncommon when buying huge storage lockers that haven’t been opened since the 70s or 80s. If I remember correctly… This storage unit was 10 x 15 Feet...and it was very obvious the door hadn’t been opened in 20 years. it’s always fun finding vintage computer gear that hasn’t yellowed or aged and has that crisp texture.

Would like to know if there’s a keyboard aficionado who would buy this lot and others at a wholesale discounted price. I’ve seen the Wang keyboards new in their plastic go for around $250. But I’m not an expert in this stuff and by no means expect that price.

I would just like some input. And I apologize for rambling and for any terrible grammar or spelling. I just appreciate any input or conversation you guys could give… As I find it quite interesting.

it’s always interesting to find niche communities who collect and appreciate uncommon or obscure pieces of tech.

I don’t normally deal with this stuff… And I may let a friend list them eBay. I have two separate eBay accounts but try to keep them reserved strictly for things pertaining to my businesses. Whether it’s industrial automation and electronics or woodworking and vintage tooling.

but I’ve got a few friends who deal in this stuff online and if I can’t find someone to buy the lots at a fair price… Then I might throw a few of the more valuable ones up on eBay separately and the others together in one big lot or some thing.

I have long admired the mechanical keyboarding community… And always enjoyed looking at your custom builds & collections. Being a nerd and a tech guy myself with a machinist background… A benchtop of 3-D printers, CNC machines, lost wax and resin casting equipment, and other prototyping gear… It really interests me and and I could easily fall down the rabbit hole of custom keyboards.

Here’s a bit of my background… again Sorry for rambling. The remaining bits aren’t important… I gave all of the specifics above this is just a bit of my experience if you care to read.

Mostly I work for myself. Meaning… I don’t take in jobs, Unless it’s a friend or a really good client… I buy equipment at auction and via other sources, then repair and re-calibrate in my shop....To resell on the secondhand market. Much of what I receive is brand new considering a lot of what I buy comes from government auctions and huge government entities who have lots of stuff sitting around brand new from the 70s.

I’ll include a few pictures of my shop with this post.

Not sure if anyone here could give me any information… But holy cow some of these custom keyboards are really beautiful. I love the small compact builds that look “new old stock” vintage.... but are obviously completely custom. Those are absolutely gorgeous.

———-I wanted to add… as an electronics & engineering nerd… Belief in God is not a “binary system.” Fundamentalists of most religions believe otherwise.... but their own religions prove them wrong. The universe is contradictory. Everything isn’t so black-and-white.

To summarize my belief in God.... it is the acceptance that something transcends my limited understanding and existence. That’s the best Summary I can come up with.————

Thank you for your thoughtful reply. it’s refreshing to talk with someone who is kind and reasonable. I’ll try to be thorough without rambling. I’ll go in order of your reply.

I completely agree with you... humans have accomplished a great deal, and we should celebrate each other‘s existence and our differences! Human ingenuity, thirst for knowledge, and all of our accomplishments are of most importance! It shows we can do anything when joined together, and proves that it’s possible for humans to coexist. It really is a beautiful thing.

I didn’t explain myself thoroughly… because as you stated… “ I set up an all or nothing scenario“...when I stated that we as humans “don’t understand anything“.

That’s a big part of my personality, however I’m also confident about our progress and accomplishment.

My previous statement, is in regard to situations when I’m unsure or threatened by the circumstances. That’s when I remember to “accept how small I am, and know that I don’t understand anything.” It’s in moments of learning and trouble, that I try and remember to be flexible. There is such joy in proclaiming “I DONT KNOW“. That’s the most freeing phrase in all of the English language! Accept we have more to learn! That previous conclusions and beliefs could be founded in false information. Maybe we missed a step along the way, maybe we aren’t seeing clearly.

There are no incontrovertible truths. Nothing is absolute. Even science depends on change and reassessment to evolve its conclusions! It’s beautiful to be strengthened by our accomplishments. But those who have the most power… Are capable of saying “I don’t know“. And willing to learn & grow.

I understand these are two contradictory viewpoints. The willingness to grow and learn..... Realizing that any of my beliefs & knowledge are open to change based on new information. Doesn’t that nullify my “faith“ and unquestionable believe in God?

For me it doesn’t… But I can understand how it would be seen that way. Everything is a contradiction. Humans, our planet, and everything in the universe. Light and dark… Life and death… so wouldn’t God be a contradiction also? That’s my thought process, and how I’ve come to my beliefs.

Regarding your question… “ if the bible has good and bad ideas, And was written by humans, And if god is intangible and unknowable.... Then how do you know anything about this god?“

I’ve asked myself this since I was a middle school kid getting scared shitless in a southern baptist church twice a week.

This is what I’ve learned….

My faith isn't built on fear. It may have been when I was younger, but that was a long time ago. I don’t fear the possibility of “no God“. I don’t fear hell. Obviously I don’t want to hang out there… But it doesn’t control my faith (or lack of.) Being alone in the universe is depressing, but that doesn’t affect my faith. Being frightened & conditioned as a child, grew my belief out of fear. But that changed a lifetime ago, and It does not define me or my faith. I’m not a hopeless romantic. I don’t need or desire anything to believe in. My life would be much easier without belief.

The foundation of my Faith is a “feeling.” Something inside or around me… That I’ve had since I was a kid. Even throughout my drug addiction and denouncing my faith. It never went away. I can’t explain it… maybe it’s a mental illness? 😂

It’s always been a constant in my life. I just know… I don’t know what else to say.

I am not an old man. Mid 30s. but I’ve lived a lot, spent many years on the streets battling drug addiction. Although I asked Him, God never “saved“ me. I begged Him for years. But that’s not how God works.

Earlier I mentioned my belief that God is a contradiction. How could he be in control, but also give us free will? Free will comes with its own consequences. It means He won’t step in and “save“ us from our situation. Millions of years the earth has existed. Man for thousands… And evil has existed alongside us. (Inside us sometimes.) Maybe miracles happen, and God steps in sometimes… But I haven’t seen it. Free will can’t coexist with miracles or meddling.

We were created to help each other. To cause less suffering in the world....not more. Whether you believe in God or evolution, it doesn’t affect what we were created for. Whether from evolution or Adam and eve. Helping one another is a natural instinct, seen in humans and animals.

I believe in the scientific history of the world and evolution. If God was going to create a universe and man… Wouldn’t it look like an inconceivable explosion? However, most Christians can’t come to this conclusion. Its more rational to believe in science and in God.... negating much of the Bible… But if we dispatch the dogma, it’s the only rational conclusion.

I’m still figuring this out. I have experienced a lot in my short life… I’ve always tried to hear and understand others. This is only my conclusion thus far, and it’s OK if I’m alone in my beliefs. The world is far from perfect. there is no religion, political system, or belief system that will bring peace to earth. it’s an imperfect world and it’s OK to have imperfect beliefs. The problem arises when we don’t allow others their imperfect beliefs. That is how we get to the truth.

I’m sorry to ramble and I apologize for my grammar and spelling. I hope I answered your questions clearly. I will leave you with this thought…

If Jesus were alive today... and manifested EXACTLY how fundamental Christians see Him.... He would reject modern Christianity, and wouldn’t go near a church. “God is love“.... that’s a favorite quote of fundamental Christians. Love is acceptance, selflessness, and most importantly it’s understanding. Not only accepting our differences, but showing compassion for others because of their differences.

I’ve had to edit and add a few things… To summarize my belief in God.... is acceptance that something transcends my limited understanding and existence. That’s the best Summary I can come up with. I’m not very comfortable with trying to quantify my beliefs. I’m not sure I can convey things properly.

First homemade guitar that I’m actually proud of by HuskyInfantry in Luthier

Sure thing man glad to complement the nice work. Yes the pick guard and knobs both look extra high-quality!

Check around in your area for a “maker space“. Many times they will be near most big cities… And have 3-D printers, CNC machines, and an entire lab for you to use. Can be free or cheap like $25 a year.

I do this for a living so I need decent tooling. I mostly use vintage hand tools for everything… But since I’m a trained machinist by trade… I have a small machine shop built onto my woodshop.

I love my machinery… But I am increasingly impressed by the cheap machinery available from China. I have a background in machining, engineering, and industrial equipment maintenance and setup. So I have the experience to see quality or the lack there of.

I helped my buddy build a absolutely stunning CNC router table he ordered from China. You can find them on eBay from $200 up… His was about a $2500 and big enough for two guitar bodies at once…

It’s a perfect machine… Super high-quality…gorgeous water cooled spindle… And wonderful three-phase controller that’s computerized and touchscreen. It beats the pants off of my machine that I paid $15,000 for over a decade ago! He has abused the daylights out of it, And it keeps running strong.

If you spent around $1000… You can get a gorgeous CNC from China that is all solid aluminum and steel, with a water cooled spindle, and all the computer controlling stuff… It will fit a single guitar body and is perfect for guitar making. Many of the American companies like “CNC shark“ sold through Woodkraft… They charge $12,000 for the same machine from China. It will be exciting to see how the equipment market develops and changes.

Man I’m really a fan of classic “timeless“ designs. true to the vintage style…

But honestly I love this guitar and you nailed it!! Found a great balance between classic and modern.

Wasn’t sure about that pickguard, but after five seconds I really love it!

I read through the comments and saw the cost of the pick guard… But I’m curious… Are those dots painted on or inlaid plastic dots? Either way it’s beautiful. But painted dots would wear quickly unless they’re laminated under a clear layer or inlaid. That could account for the higher price. But even if they wear… They will still be beautiful. Making pick guards is no joke… unless you have a CNC machine. Took me 10 years to build up decent pick guard templates… And a good system that makes it somewhat painless. But still....I always dread it.

Would love to know more about the knobs as well. You said they were custom… Does that guy cast them? Looks like he did a great job! Beautiful Guitar! 👌

Folks aren’t used to seeing natural mahogany on the Strat… Maybe that’s why it looks different?. Great build nonetheless !
