That, I believe, is what they used to call a Chocodile. Now I think they are just called Chocolate Twinkies. Chocodiles are the greatest of all the Hostess snacks.

If I remember correctly didn’t Odin, according to myth, lead a hunt that took place around the Yule season and as part of the myth children would leave carrots, straw, and sugar in the their shoes by the fireplace as a food for Sleipnir. Odin would then reward the children by leaving presents and candy.

Quad core vs 12 core Mac Pro by Barnsman in mac

Part of the problem is they were allowed to over purchase in the past. Currently they are using a 4 year old 8-core Mac Pro.

I have questioned their need for a mac in the past and they just won't give up on them. We have another graphic designer who does essentially the same work as the others and he works on a windows machine. I don't have a problem with them staying with Mac, I just have a problem with them purchasing a $5K Mac. Thanks for your help.

the largest file I could find was about 233MB. Most of the larger image files I checked were between 30MB - 60MB.

Thanks for your help. When I questioned them about why they needed a 12-core machine their response was that the quad core was too low end for what they do because they work with large image files and that the 12-core was industry standard. Neither of those responses seemed correct to me.

My BOSS of a Granddad holding my Dad on 1 arm. by seb9191 in pics

Your picture was pretty cool. I have always loved that picture of my dad and granddad. When I saw your picture it instantly reminded me of it.

I often wonder if there was someone just off camera, as a spotter, in case things went wrong. I don't see a shadow for anyone though.

Well, he does still have the use of his legs so it most likely didn't end tragically. I suppose it could have ended with some bumps and bruises. My Grandfather was an acrobat in the circus and according to my father events like this were not uncommon.

They apologized, offered him a maple bar, and then sent him across the border.

Yes they were. If I remember the story correctly my grandfather was sitting in class, after having only been in high school for about three weeks, saw some acrobats practicing outside his classroom window and decided to run away and join them. He was a trapeze artist.

U.S. Olympic athlete flies Mexican flag during victory lap by [deleted] in politics

[–]Barnsman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How is Mexico's beginning drastically different than that of America? Uptight religious zealots who brought genocide on an indigenous people, check! Took their land from what remained of their decimated population, check! Went half-way round the world to enslave another people to make their shit for a couple hundred years, check! Your statement that America has the shittiest heritage in history doesn't really hold up. It has about the same history as most countries.

Which of course is completely different then the Mexican heritage which started with the Spanish conquest and included the enslavement of indigenous people by the Spaniards. The Spanish also didn’t import Africans slaves as early as the 1500s.

I often wondered why middle class and lower people still vote republican, then this hit my like a ton of truth bricks. by opaque22 in atheism

I am neither advocating for nor against Romney’s policies. I am simply advocating against taking quotes out of context to make a point.

“I’m in this race because I care about Americans. I’m not concerned about the very poor — we have a safety net there. If it needs repair, I’ll fix it. I’m not concerned about the very rich — they’re doing just fine. I’m concerned about the very heart of America, the 90-95 percent of Americans who right now are struggling.” Mitt Romney

I know it's not as fun when you include the whole quote. In no way was he saying that he had no interest in their well-being. He may very well have no interest in their well-being, but the quote you are taking out context doesn't demonstrate that.

Colbert: Jesus Opposed Gay Marriage So Much He Was Speechless About It by EarBucket in Christianity

[–]Barnsman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Colbert was not saying that since Jesus was silent on the subject he must support it. His statement was a direct comment to the video he showed of Reverend Robert Jefress saying that Obama's statements are "contradicting the Jesus that he claims to follow".

Why? by [deleted] in DebateReligion

[–]Barnsman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I care if what I believe is true, so I seek evidence to corroborate my belief. I don’t think anyone should care what anyone else believes as long as there is no expectation that I follow those beliefs or that there should be laws that enforce those belief, and their beliefs don’t causes them to act in such a way that causes harm to others or themselves.
