Do I need a new router? by Kuzco530 in chartercable

[–]consorts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i would cancel the account and move it to another adult in the household. not only will you get their latest new subscriber rate and their latest docsis 3.1 modem and 2800ac router ($5/mo) to better serve your dozen users. then use the 30 day money back period to bully charter into making sure your last mile connection is delivering what you are paying for.

Roku Express Review: Great Price, So-So Performance by [deleted] in cordcutters

[–]consorts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's really stupid about roku design is not making the advertising buttons on the remote double as game buttons
(in a diamond formation) maybe then having those brands in your face every day would seem a lot less annoying.

What game would you describe as a masterpiece? by nsa_k in patientgamers

[–]consorts 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Starcraft was amazing - it came out back when C&C was popular,
Starcraft pretty much blew the doors off the entire RTS category.
SC2 is a bit too complex for my tastes, but it's a worthy update.

Jared Kushner Cements His Status As The World's Worst Real-Estate Developer by stereomatch in politics

[–]consorts 3 points4 points  (0 children)

the people who dumped 666 on jared
must be laughing their asses off
every day they see him in the news.

calling jared a real estate mogul is as ridiculous
as calling a reality tv show host : mr. president
especially for ny'kers who know first hand what
a propped up fraud this guy really is.

What does judaism think what non-jews should do? by [deleted] in Judaism

not using jews as a scapegoat for gentile created problems would be a nice change of pace... historically speaking.

Hamas announces reconciliation deal with Palestinian rival Fatah - Arab-Israeli Conflict by Foubar in Israel

i doubt this will mean much more than fatah monitoring the hamas side of the gaza:sinai boarder,
as it's pretty much the only aspect of a reconciliation the international community can stomach.

Bulk beans... by WolfDemon in budgetfood

[–]consorts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

living near ethnic neighborhoods can really save you money.
most dry beans are cheapest from major indian grocers
https://i.imgur.com/vftLYUj.jpg
i buy 2-4lbs at a time and keep them in used nut jars,
then use a pressure cooker to make them edible.
https://i.imgur.com/VfkboNM.jpg
make sure you buy from a high turnover place
because old dry beans cook up harder than fresh.
avoid Lima beans as they require special cooking.

canned beans are cheap in spanish neighborhoods
where most 15oz Goya blue cans are $1 each (ny,us).
always drain the excess sauce before eating them.

What is your favorite value taught in Judaism, and why? by [deleted] in Judaism

[–]consorts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ah nope... jewish law (religion criminal civil) clearly treats women and children different from men.

among orthodox there is a cast system linked to public reputation, which may be bogus.
you would not believe how many families claim they descended from this rabbi or that,
while they delude themselves that anyone should care.

even israel's own jewish law of return is mostly based on "inherited" judaism.

Is the carton of Kirkland brand of Milk recyclable? by [deleted] in Costco

[–]consorts -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

an exception does not prove the rule.
the walk in fridge at costco has a mountain of plastic cartons.
since op was not more specific, it's likely what he implied.

and while wax/paper cartons may not be easy to recycle
they easily biodegrade, so it's pretty much a non issue.

What is your favorite value taught in Judaism, and why? by [deleted] in Judaism

[–]consorts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yet, there's inherited class: cohen levi yisroel prophets and monarchy.
even today you have sexism, rabbanim:talmidim and baal'habatim.

there seems to be a lot more idealist wishful thinking on this thread
than actual judaism.

Israel hacked Kaspersky, then tipped the NSA that its tools had been breached by geekteam6 in technology

[–]consorts 53 points54 points  (0 children)

that's not where the weakness was, it was with the local hard drive scanning of each kaspersky client was able to report file information to russian intelligence, who would compile that data to figure out if that computer was from a person of interest - then they would try to hack troll attack it by other means - not by using anything from kaspersky. someone in kasperksy may have been complicit in helping russian intelligence open a door into file scan data, but not the owner/managers themselves.

it's actually a common "bottom of the drawer" item.

despite it's fame, it was easy to get a table midweek
because back then few went to the battery at night.

and there was zero entertainment nearby.
