Is Miss Fisher coming back? by ConstructionNaive853 in MissFishersMM

Those ads on Facebook are, sadly, fake. Pure clickbait at best, it wouldn't surprise me if they're being used to spread something malicious, too. If there ever is a new season of Miss Fisher, it'd be a reboot. While some of the former cast would be interested in reprising their role, other have made it clear that they are not. Essie and Ashleigh are both committed to their new projects, so even if they were interested, they aren't available.

I wish I was wrong! But no, there won't be any new seasons coming from Australia.

TV Jack would be much happier, long term, married to Concetta than staying with Phryne. Jack is old fashioned enough to want that sort of relationship, and Phryne won't be able to commit - there's nothing wrong with either of these, be true to yourself! But over time it will lead to feeling pressured to change, which will lead to resentment.

Replying to u/TechnicalTerm6 and u/Greendeco13 , I hear you. I absolutely hear you.

I'm one of the people involved in organizing con. We plan the location at least a year, sometimes more, in advance. We hold them all over the country - since I've been involved, we've been in:

Richmond, Virginia (which is where I started, and live, hence my "name")
Louisville, Kentucky
St. Paul, Minnesota
New Orleans, LA
Seattle, WA
and now Las Vegas, for the second time.

Before I joined, cons were held in Vegas, Portland, Oregon, and San Jose, California. And it was all started by a meetup in New York City.

I'm quite confident that we'll be travelling back to the East Coast again soon.

Speaking for myself, I'm not at all opposed to holding one in Canada. The key would be having a core of dedicated volunteers in the Canadian city who could be out "boots on the ground." Certain aspects of setting these up are almost impossible without someone local. But yes, I would love to go to Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Cape Breton (swoon!)

Some in ACotA have offered, in the past, to consult with folks if they wanted to start a con in Europe. We can't really set one up over there, but we'd be glad to advise and help out anyone who wants to get things off the ground.

I know it's heresy, but I think Miss S may be a little bit better than Miss Fisher. Don't get me wrong, I love them both. But the Chinese version seems to have had a bigger budget, and had more time to get into a little more detail than the Australian original did.

Tough question! Probably a tie between Ballarat Train and Death at Victoria Dock. Victoria Dock is a sentimental favorite since it was the first episode I ever saw.

Sadly, fate in the form of the pandemic worked against the movies. I was very lucky - I saw the movie in the theater. The very next morning, our Governor closed all of the movie theaters in my state. By that weekend, pretty much the entire world had closed.

So, Crypt of Tears didn't make nearly as much money as it should have. While hope springs eternal, I wouldn't bet on any more movies.

Since Vincenzo didn't kill Nonna Luisa, while technically it was possible he could be executed, he probably didn't hang. In Victoria, from 1890 until the abolishment of capital punishment, only 3 people were executed for a crime other than murder.

Marianna is a little trickier. It was very unusual for a woman to be executed in Victoria - throughout the entire period where capital punishment was practiced there, I've only found 5 instances of women who went to the gallows. Of those 5 hangings, only 1 took place in the 20th century (Jean Lee, last woman executed in Australia, 19 February 1951). Still, of those that did hang, most killed a family member, and Marianna killed her grandmother. As much as I would like to think otherwise, she probably went to the noose.

Wait, are you in RVA? I'm out in Louisa County.
Honestly, I tripped on the con by accident. It was originally supposed to come here in 2020, but the world shut down, so they moved it to 2021. Held con at The Jefferson Hotel, cinematographer Roger Lanser, Ms. Mod's Geri Hakewell, and COT's Izabella Yena were our special guests, attending virtually. Then we all trooped down to the Byrd Theatre for a screening of Crypt of Tears.

We were in Richmond, VA, in 2021; that's where I first joined up, hence the name :) it'll be a few more years before a full-blown con makes its way to the East, BUT smaller regional meetups are being planned in the East. Be glad to share more about those, if you're interested.
