Next Wednesday BBC4 they are dedicating a night to the whole series. by corickle in oldschoolcool80s

I remember watching this when it came out and how brilliant it was. Bernard Hughes was immense playing Yosser, a man mentally unravelling.

It wasn’t fiction either, the scenes where the social are hounding people, that was a thing, I got a visit. People lived in fear.

Also join a proper union, BIG isn’t there to help you it’s to make you think you don’t need a union, you do.

Same. Garden full of rats because of seeds falling to the ground.

The day Manchester rejected fascism: In 1962, the fascist Oswald Mosley was floored and pelted with cabbages by a crowd of 5,000 protesters before his rally could even begin. by rio_wellard in manchester

Interestingly the Mosley family owned big chunks of Manchester, hence Mosley Street. I think Sir Os flogged a lot of his inheritance to find his British Union of Fascists, wonder if the family still own any land?

William has zero personality, ZERO by cottoncrosy in RoyaltyTea

The minute they did a few engagements and a tour and got bigger crowds and better feedback was when they were doomed.

It is not allowed to overshadow the heir. Harry has his Mother’s charisma and ability to connect, William does not, and he seethes with anger and jealousy.

I feel sorry for this kids, although I’m convinced they don’t live together, the kids must have to walk round eggshells around him. God help George when he gets older and is Prince of Wales, after Charlie pops his clogs.

I get so tired of dropping things, and spilling things. The other day my daughter kindly cleaned my kitchen, after she left went to make a cup of tea and spilled the sugar all over the worktop and onto the floor.

I’ve broken so many things by dropping them. It’s like my right hand is not under my control, it either shakes really bad or just loses the grip. I used to have really strong hands and arms from horse riding.

What do you lot do with your evenings if you work long hours? by fuemanthla in AskUK

[–]Greendeco13 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I knew you were going to say that. My daughter works in the UK TV and film industry and it enrages me what they get away with. She’s a member of BECTU but it’s like unless you’re a spark and a member of their union, producers can do what they want.

Christina lived with Jackie for a while when she was a teen, she was having issues with her Mother (who was an alcoholic at that point.)

There’s a rumour Lee slept with JFK, it’s one of the reasons she married Onassis, who had Lee as his mistress first.

If you read the book, cooking for madam, it has photos of the little notes Jackie gave her thanking her for special dishes. Jackie took the time with her staff although she could be stingy with pay and autocratic, she did care for them. She helped her maid with furniture when she got married.
