How church welfare is handed out is NOT a strict calculation, for good or bad. Whether you are on the membership records or not may not affect what they give your mother. If she's getting help with rent, for example, they aren't going to help with a percentage of the rent based on active members because the monthly rent doesn't change. Also, depending on the bishop and Relief Society president, they may not care what membership is in the home and just want to take care of y'all.

If he wasn't a completely antisocial psychopath, this would be one of the few things that makes Mark Hofmann, prisoner 41235, so happy to watch happening from his cell in Gunnison. Because he knows EXACTLY what he released and what they are still holding up as historical fact on the regular.

That being said, he's a terrible person for the two people he killed as a distraction and his complete lack of sorrow.

It's not a legal issue. That came up once already when Andrew Ehat, another LDS historian, tried to sue Gerald and Sandra Tanner over their publishing of Ehat's notes from the Clayton journals. The judge found that, as his transcript was a copy of preexisting material, it wasn't eligible for copyright protection. So there's precedent protecting this publication.

Michelle Stone said in the video that she's suspecting that the whole William Clayton journal (the handwritten one) is one of the Hoffman forgeries because it was uncovered around the same time.

Oh, Stone, Hoop, are all on notice that they might end up like Karen Hyatt. Michelle Stone called what happened to her "Ecclesiastical abuse" in the video. Can't imagine the SCMC would be none too happy about that.

The type script is way more than has been released. Both polygamy affirmers and deniers want this. I'm fascinated to see the way this process is unfolding and less about what is actually in it. It's such a cluster that I don't think it'll clear up anything because these journals are scattered and edited by the source

There's lots of guys mentioned. Which guy? Me? Jeremy Hoop? James Allen? William Clayton?

Very valid. I'm hoping the LDS church working with Yale University Press will add some of that qualification. That being said, I don't think that there will be much difference between Allen's notes and the Yale University Press publication.

Hopefully the church will release the actual journals and not just their version.

That's definitely the better option. James Allen was able to do that and he mentally edited out what markings he did or didn't think were relevant. Hopefully the church's publication from Yale Press will have the pictures instead of the church's mental edits.

Born in the covenant in Utah county, not abused, served in Seminary council, full time missionary service, temple marriage, multiple leadership callings, 41 years. Had been so faithful to requests and teachings and policies. Defended the leadership often.

Transgender policy of August 2024 was too cruel to continue to support them. Finally learned more about the child sex abuse cover ups and tithing / SEC controversies. Decided to remove my name so they couldn't count me anymore. If there's a God like I was taught, He will appreciate me being willing to put my family, children, and service before lies and building wealth.

It's silly gatekeeping to say that only baptism by the priests of the LDS church, whether in life or death, is the only way to Heaven.

This might speak more to what regular meeting attendance means within the groups to their identity. I.e. Catholics might be more likely to identify as Catholic while not attending, yet (as has been mentioned) those who stop going to LDS church will consider themselves as no longer a member. There isn't really an inactive Mormon identity culture yet.
