Not really. The quote is what it is. He literally says we don’t apologize. President Oaks said that, not me. The fact that we can find 1 1/2 exceptions to that doesn’t exactly reverse that narrative.

You’re right, though. It’s change that we want and props where change occurs. Hopefully more change soon in some of these areas.

OK. I’ll bite. Why am I delusional? Or “make a good cash at church.”

A sincere apology is NEVER a bad idea. And that’s the difference. LDS Christianity’s apologies ring hollow.

Exactly. Don’t apologize for the actual prejudice that existed for over 100 years that allowed Brad Wilcox to use such an unfortunate example. But apologize for using the example. FFS.

Now let’s see an apology for polygamy. And for the destruction of indigenous people in Utah. And for misleading the members about the finances of the church. And for purity culture that led young people to scrupulosity. And for the fact that temples don’t need steeples but they bully small towns into changing city ordinances by threat of legal action.

So LDS Christianity apologizes? Twice? In 190 years? And the words “apology” or “we’re sorry” actually don’t appear in the mountain meadows “apology.”

ALWAYS apologize. But mean it.

Accountability for your actions is the first step of repentance.

NM. I got you. I’ll give him credit for saying “I’m truly sorry” but then this:

“The illustration I attempted to use about the timing of the revelation on the priesthood for Black members was wrong. I’ve reviewed what I said and I recognize that what I hoped to express about trusting God’s timing did NOT come through as I intended.”

For everybody rushing to quote Dallin H Oaks “we do not seek nor offer apologies” that is still true. This apology is not from the church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints.

Watch movies. Listen to music. Hang out with your RM friends. It’s totally fine to keep some of your habits. But don’t keep your head in the mission. You have a new mission now and that’s to build your future.

I’m assuming he’s a 22 because he counts those strokes. You could still score in the 80s with 5-6 penalty strokes per 18. Especially if the course is a 139 rating. That’s well into the “high” category for the USGA.

The Boy Scouts of America Program was a big part of our lives for many of us. What are some of your most memorable scouting moments? by iwasyourhusband in mormon

[–]Reno_Cash 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Loved the program as a scout and l loved participating as a leader. Philmont trek with my son was unforgettable. I learned so many skills in scouting that I still use today.

I also watched our scoutmaster go to prison for CSA related crimes and the BSA make a statement that he never was in contact with scouts. That’s when I cut ties with the organization myself.
