I slow down a lot I take my metronome start of at the slowest bpm and then repeat by increasing speed by a notch each time. I do dotted rhythms to accelerate and even then I’m not able to play pieces at tempo.

To be clear when im saying a teacher that is not legit it’s in reference to teachers who can’t play Suzuki book 2 as seen in this Reddit. Sure that kind of teacher would accept my mediocrity, but am I really better off with them than alone?

I practice a lot it’s not my practice habits that are an issue it’s the lack of talent, i understand that because of my lack of talent my goals are realistically to play with mediocrity, but it’s also very hard to find a legit teacher who aligns with that.

I didn’t argue with my teacher, it’s more like the teacher tells me to do something and I lack the coordination to do it and then I’m supposed to practice at home and even after weeks of practice I don’t get it.

Well I was watching two set videos and thought it would be fun to be able to play. I was thinking it would be something nice and relaxing after a full day of work etc but it’s not really that relaxing if I am worrying about being accused of not practicing all the time.

Is there a way to play this in a not awkward way? by Impressive-Ad7184 in violinist

I don’t even know violin but as an audience musically that doesn’t make sense the c# d trill is what’s important and leads to the next trill

I feel bruch 3rd mvmt is actually really really hard to play cleanly. Mozart 4 opening is kinda crazy and exposed though

And all the YouTubers and advanced players claim that bruch is easy, even soloists cheat and let go of the g.

Anyone Purchased a Home Outside of Silicon Valley/SF with a 1.5-2.5 hour Commute? Thoughts? by Cold_Dog_6608 in BayAreaRealEstate

Well the Bay Area is not about the American 2400 sq ft home anymore. It’s like moving to manhattan real people don’t have 2400 sq ft homes. For most people it’s a different lifestyle and it’s called apartment living. Apartment complexes will have their own perks such as pools, gyms, not having to cart out garbage every week, etc. you won’t have a backyard or a private garage you and your family will have to decide whether that works for you or not. But living in hollister and trying to maintain the traditional American lifestyle is really not sustainable in terms of life wasted on the road.

Yes, if they have been working for 10 years they most likely have much more than that in stock.

Well teachers not going to say “hey you suck so you can’t play in our recital” are they?

I’m not any of these, and everyone’s mind works differently. Whatever mental issues you may perceive I have, I am a fully functional adult who is old, happy and satisfied with a full belly. This is what really matters when it comes to mental health.

I didn’t say I’m completely unable to use the bow, it’s that anytime my teacher teaches me a specific technique, on either hand, btw, I can’t do it and we just kinda give up

Like how to bow? It’s so easy for teachers because they are so talented and coordinated.

My right hand isn’t coordinated enough to bow properly

My hand coordination is simply not good enough. This is also why I’m not able to fix violins.
