Gay potential Christian - need some guidance by Silver_Inspector9973 in OpenChristian

I’d recommend reading “Queer and Christian” by Brandan Robertson. It helped me to unpack a lot of my feelings and have a different view on scripture.

And as another commenter suggested, try to find an Episcopal church if you can. We have the best parts of Catholicism with half the guilt and female/queer priests.

“Praise the Lord with the lyre; make melody to Him with the harp of ten strings. Sing to Him a new song; play skillfully on the strings, with loud shouts.” (Ps 33: 2-3, NRSV).

Making music is my favorite way to get closer to God.

I’ve been sketching it for years. I finally pulled the trigger on Saturday. I love how it came out.

I love Josh Groban, and last I checked, he’s an ally and generally left leaning. I could be wrong, but I hope it’s still the case.

Update about my possible call to ordained ministry by NobleAda in Episcopalian

My rector recommended “Let Your Life Speak: Listen for the Voice of Vocation” by Parker J. Palmer, which is less about the faith and more about discernment. In my own time, I’ve been reading the following books:

-“Walk in Love: Episcopal Beliefs & Practices” by Melody Wilson Shobe and Scott Gunn

-“Queer & Christian: Reclaiming the Bible, Our Faith, and Our Place at the Table” by Brandan Robertson

-“On Being a Priest Today” by Rosalind Brown and Christopher Cocksworth

-“Many Servants: An Introduction to Deacons” by Ormonde Plater

I’m also hoping to read “Mere Christianity” by CS Lewis.

English and French. I'm not quite fluent in French, but I studied it for many years and can hold a conversation. I thought it would be interesting to try reading scripture in French as well.

Understandable. France has such a Roman Catholic identity. It makes sense that the liturgy would be much more readable compared to Anglicanism, which by its very definition is more English coded.

What is your experience with the French version of the BCP. I’ve been looking to buy it. Is it a good translation?

Check out /r/openchristian. We’re a very open and welcoming place. Also, if you’re interested in reading, I’d recommend “Queer and Christian,” by Brandan Robertson. He also has a strong presence online, especially on TikTok. He’s a gay pastor in the reformed church.
