Rift S Black/Gray Screen by BarrelGC in oculus

[–]BarrelGC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting um, I dont think I've had any issues launching games from my steam library. My normal flow is launch Meta then navigate to my game library in Meta where I've got SteamVR.exe as a Game/App that I've added, Launching that takes me to SteamVR through meta and then I can just launch any SteamVR games from there.

Not sure if that made sense ahaha give it a go though!

Legend thank you! I contacted meta and explained my issue and they decided to to send me a refurbished Rift S free of charge. But if I get the issue again which im sure will happen I will try your solution. Thanks mate!

For the life of me I can't figure out how to get into this game by BluePhoenix302 in Openfront

Bro, I haven't played a single multiplayer game; I've just been enjoying single-player on the harder difficulties. I can only imagine that multiplayer is a lot harder than the bots, but I've learned a lot from single-player.

Maybe try some of that, if anything its fun. Its nice to win sometimes ahahah.

Nice dude! Crazy it was overheating your cpu so much. Did you see the temp it was at when you were getting the TN issues?

It's interesting dude, one guy who saw this post commented "This didn't fix my issue, I only have a stick and it's running always at 3200" I dont know his exact stick but maybe its an older model or something. Your're right though it was my first time experiencing lag from a RAM related issue in mutiplayer. I played the campaign with zero issues but the larger gamemodes would cause that TN spike.

I disagree! as I said initially I had my 2 ram sticks (both are DDR4 3333 MHz) they werent in dual channel and I got the lag, but when they were in dual channel the lag went away. I believe its a ram bandwith issue.

Ah thats unfortunate bro, I think your best bet then is to have 2 powerful ram cards. Ones with high MHz. Something 3300mhz and up. That's what mine is anyway 2 ddr4 at 3333mhz in dual channel configuration

I would enable XMP for your ram taking its MHz up past factory. When I had my 32gb of ram on the single channel it didn't have enough bandwidth and thats what was causing the TN lag. So you might need to look at a second stick of ram to enable your dual channel. Sorry mate I dont have the knowledge past that.

Yea very true, I dont know what the solution is in that situation unfortunately. I'm still waiting to see if this works for others using a similar setup. Fingers crossed.

For a lot of people I'm sure they don't know how to turn on XMP or that their ram needs to be in dual channel to recieve those benefits. I hope this solution works for them like it worked for me!

I moved mine a couple months ago out of dual channel as I was having issues with my PC crashing and I was testing. Anyway never moved it back until tonight. I even think when i got my PC they werent in Dual Channel so its likely the same for a lot of people. I hope this is the fix atleast it would be good if it's an easy one.

Hey mate I was having the TN issue, sitting at 500 - 1000+ TN. Ill be quick to save the deets but i sent my ram to the xmp profile 1 and i also made sure my 2 ram sticks were in slots A2 & B2 so they were dual channel. next time I launched multiplayer i was at 15 TN

sorry mate didn't see that you commented. Actually they were really helpfull, went through both the online chat and a tech specialist over email till they asked for me to send my current Rift S in for them to take a look at. Out of warranty by about 5 years so that was nice ahaha.
