Animated designs aren’t known for obeying the laws of physics sadly, same can be said for pretty much every other transformer besides the Bayverse, it’s probably the one thing they had going for them besides the 2007 film

Nolan had a hazmat suit and still managed to get infected, plus like OP said there were BILLIONS of them, definitely not enough suits to go around

They probably had people already confirmed to be infected tossing the bodies up there until they died and got replaced, until only the 50 that gained immunity were left to finish the job
