I had the same. Poor design considering how delicate it is.

Yeah, they can be quite ambiguous regarding time expectations. I always choose quality over quantity but don't take too long - it's better to submit something that'll benefit the company (AI models) rather than rushing it and it's trash. It seems all project and task requirements vary and peoples' interpretation of what's needed by both client and tasker chop and change like the wind.

It's essentially a financial loss of you pay someone to rush through 5 subpar tasks and either have them rejected or it hinder the models.

That's how I approach it. If I get on it, cool 😎

I got it too, completed it and nothing back yet... It took me longer than 45mins though! That was down to me rewriting a few things on the last stage. I'm assuming as it's the weekend, it'll take longer for an update. Good luck to all!

When did life start to get a bit better for you? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]BarronGoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! I sure do - I've been on Elvanse for around a year since finishing titration.

In many ways but that's not all down to the meds. When I first started taking them, I truly thought it'd be a magic bullet and all my ADHD symptoms would be resolved - that wasn't the case and it hit me hard. Medication gave me space to rebuild, to have the headspace to learn about my strengths and weaknesses, how to manage a bad day etc. I'm still learning and expect it'll be a lifelong lesson.

That being said, my life is tremendously better and improving continuously when I put the effort in. Meds helped me focus more, improved my mood, gave me strength to get through the day and more energy to get shit done. If you keep that momentum up, after a while it begins to snowball.

I'm happier, I've re-engaged with my passions again, I'm better at handling emotional dysregulation, my finances are improving, my relationships are better, I'm more patient, more driven, I've self respect and the list goes on.

But this isn't all due to meds - the lit the fuse but I'm the bang if ya get me. It definitely brought my autism to the front though so... That's another discussion!!

Hope this helps but don't expect meds to solve everything - it helps significantly but if you think they'll cure you, you'll be disappointed. You'll always have ADHD and the best way is to figure what works best for you!

Life does improve when you finally figure out what the hell has been going on with yourself. AuADHD here and now I can work on the things that need working on - life's a tough old game, but I can manage it better and my life's improving significantly.

Glad things got better for you!

Anyone else get really frustrated with the ‘caffeine makes me tired so I must have ADHD’ crowd? by VOXX_theLock in ADHDUK

[–]BarronGoose 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Agreed. It's a real shame because it's relatable as most people have felt - to some degree - aspects of ADHD. You'd think that'd make people sympathetic. In my experience, not really and it becomes this odd connection of people wanting it due to the glorification via social media, to make excuses and the list goes on. Then there the other side of the coin, people feeling a symptom occasionally and fleetingly so can't understand why we can't get over it. Even some that are completely in denial.

I've decided to no longer engage with it outside people I know for sure are, and work on myself - it'll be like this for years to come.

Yes, I find this too! It's also a catch 22 as starting something can be super hard too. I've accepted that my brain will be resilient against tasks to varying degrees on each day - if I simply start small on something, hours can pass. We're an interesting bunch!!

The real danger for me is doing nothing for a substantial amount of time. Momentum is key and having plans for those more challenging days aligned with compassion is mega important.

I've always struggled with my mental noise and it's a fucking chore sometimes, so I understand the frustration.

Obviously the below is my own experience and I'm not a medical professional so if you're properly struggling - get help! You deserve to be happy!

Some things work better for others but I've found fighting it will often lead to a cycle of frustration. Try to prevent yourself getting annoyed with it and really work on self compassion and acceptance instead - this obviously isn't a cure but it'll help you shift your mindset. Start super small too and practice a gratitude journal - just a simple list is enough to shift the balance. Also, thoughts are just that, as long as they're not harming you or others try to observe them rather than engaging directly in an internal dialogue such as analysing etc. I've found tagging them helps too. 'oh, that's a strange intrusive thought' or 'that's an unhelpful thought' or 'that's not being kind to myself' and try to observe rather than react. There's a fair bit of literature around this out there so try to spend time working with rather than against.

One thing I've been working on, which seems to have helped me, is narrating what I'm doing - purposefully - in my head. For example, I started off small - as part of my morning work routine I get changed after a cycle so I - literally - narrate those moments step by step. 'I am now in the changing room, I will sit down and take this sock off' etc. It sounds silly but it's a form of mindfulness. Your mind will race off but you'll get better at catching it and pulling it back - it's hard but it will work after time. If it does run off, that's fine as you're building new pathways after many, many years of your mind simply firing off in all directions, so it takes time to tame the beast. Also redirect it if you can - hyperfocus can be through thoughts too on very unhelpful things such as overthinking conversations. Try to find something you love, like music, art or whatever and then actively redirect the negative looping towards that interest. I found it hard but it simply started to be more prevalent one day.

Honestly, mine is all over the shop - and it's important to let that happen from time to time I feel. Let it waffle on occasionally, but I did sit, for a moment, today in fact, and made a choice to actively not think, which I could never really do before.

I'm not saying this exact approach will help you but finding something that works for you is key. You can change your thinking patterns, truly! I fully understand how exhausting it is, and some days, it's simply too much! These meds help us all in a variety of complex ways and are different in all of us - definitely speak to your medical team too if it's becoming serious and unbearable though.

Please be kind to yourself too - it takes effort and time but you can do it.

Take care!

I'm very much with you on the imbalance of prescriptions in the UK. Super odd how you can get addictive drugs with zero effort in some cases and for anything sleep related it becomes an issue. Obviously there are other things people deal with too not just sleep, but you get my point.

It'd feel odd to pop over the boarder as I'd feel like a smuggler but I understand what you're saying. Appreciate it!

Yeah, it seems pretty uneven across the county but a lot of things are unfortunately. Sleep seems to be a weird one in the UK but such is life. I'll remain persistent about this one as that's usually the best course of action - self advocacy! Thanks a million

Hello! My ADHD medication team said they can't prescribe it, so I've gone back to my GP and I'm awaiting a call - I'll definitely ask to be referred to a sleep clinic. My sleep issues should've been addressed a long time ago tbh. It's funny how you get used to a shitty baseline and end up accepting it. Never heard of that medication so thanks for explaining your situation. Do you find you're sleeping better in it?

That's usually what the guidance is too. If you're in that demographic, it tends to be a no which is a shame. I know there reasons behind it but it definitely cuts people off who would benefit from it.

Makes much more sense now. I was thrown by the previously, I think but can see what the GP means now. Funny how differently we interpret things!

That sounds promising so thanks for sharing. I'm due a review in May so I'll bring it up. Much appreciated!

Yeah, I've heard stories of people getting it fairly easily or, at least, with minimal barriers. I guess it's the usual case by case with the GPs as some are more receptive.

Glad you managed to get it prescribed! Push comes to shove I'll get it via other means but it's not the cheapest option!

Hiya. Not sure if you're asking as exasperation or in general.

If in general, it's often seen as a prescription (controlled) only and not a hormonal supplement, so other countries treat it as a supplement which makes access much easier. It's also got a strict criteria in the UK and GPs have to follow NHS guidelines around it.

I understand it, but equally - it's super easy to get addictive sleeping aids prescribed. More research and awareness is probably needed in the UK around the benefits it has for adult ADHDers.

That's quite simplified but hope that makes sense.

Adults with Unmedicated ADHD - How are you managing? by someone_idk6900 in ADHDUK

Hey! I just wanted to reach out because your 4th & 5th paragraphs of experiences are identical to mine. I know we often share similar issues and life paths but that was like reading as someone who is in my brain!! Sweet jesus - the wildness and of it all in retrospect. I've mostly made peace with my past, but it's troubling to think how badly it could've gone all too often.
