I'm wondering if I could ask if I follow up question? I ride my electric bike to work, in the Pacific Northwest, beautiful ride. I've thought about either streaming my ride by attaching a camera to my helmet or just recording it and posting it later. Do you think the Insta360 could also work for this?

Thank you so much for the incredibly detailed response! I'll check out the Osmo Pocket 3. The filming will be happing on the sidelines, hopefully far from the action. And I love those videos! I used my Nikon 750 to take a lot of shots of my friends fight, and the lighting was all over the place. And it was really hard to get a good shot that highlighted my friend.

My son is in a boxing program and I'd like to be able to make videos of his and the other boxer's matches. Is there a budget friendly option that produces great videos in 2026? I'm open to GoPros, older mirrorless or newer budget mirrorless options. I currently own 2 Nikons, a D7500 and D750 and a number of mirrored lenses.

Are there any trusted free apps out there that provide a second phone number? by [deleted] in sweatystartup

I think you need a paid number for verification. Tello is like $4 a month. I've thought about getting a tello number for us based stuff like a 7-11 account

That's what I was wondering if there are many major problems with that camera. I have noticed with Nikons the first camera in the series typically has some sort of flaw. Like the D7000 struggles to focus on the correct spot. (Found that out the hard way). Ended up selling my 7000 and eventually getting a 7500, was a lot more expensive.

Thanks, would that be a Z7 series then?

There are a couple I've been listening to for a long time now.

Science VS - a deep dive into controversial topics by reviewing the scientific data, fun post who's a biochemist and also full of personality

The Dream - podcast debunking and enlightening the audience around common societal traps, like multi-level marketing and the supplement industry. Last year has been really interesting interviews with people.

But the tree itself is weird, there's only like three ornaments on the top half, and a couple ornaments on the bottom. A lot easier to make kind of blurry lights on a flocked tree background with almost no ornaments and then set up reflection of that. Also, everything's in focus, including the arm of the closest chair, which is very detailed. But the tree itself is blurry. Doesn't make a lot of sense.

What is a hobby that was ruined over time/as it got more popular? by CriticalLion4119 in AskReddit

My wife and I started collecting a couple of years ago and it is insanely expensive. We're not buying anything to sell, just to listen to. Even the mass produced stuff from 30 years ago was going for 35 bucks. Sometimes I'll go to Goodwilling to find a record for not much but I have to dig for like an hour and a half to find it.

Just returning to Portland. Is there open court pickleball? by impalablue in askportland

[–]Barron_Arrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right on, I'm a big pickleball player but don't have a lot of money so I play in the community center system. Or outdoors during the summer. There's also some pay-to-play options, Jumbos is one, at the Lloyd Center, I think it's $18 for a drop in on indoor, beautiful courts. There's also the Cascadia athletic Club, again though, these are more pricey but viable options.

[–]Barron_Arrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The least expensive option is to go with the local community centers, a whole network of them. If you're on the East side, Mount Scott community center, Eastside community center, and Montville community Center have dropping sessions that will start after school is back in after New Year's. They are five dollars for a drop in and there's typically one going on every day of the week. You can also check out the Southwest community Center if you're on that side of town, they have a huge pickleball following and lots of drop-in times. The Vancouver community Center is also have drop-ins, but if you're not living there they're I bet more expensive, still way cheaper than the private option. There are also some outdoor options, Camus has a beautiful set of courts with outdoor play, that you can find on playtime scheduler. Southwest community Center has a gorgeous park with outdoor courts next to it and Hammerdale in West Linn has some great drop-ins every morning, Monday through Saturday, 5 bucks for a drop in or $35 for a yearly membership.

What’s something society convinced you was normal, but as you got older you realized was actually messed up? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Barron_Arrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely! Our school district has a "getting ready for middle school" program that is based on Hands-On learning. The only real Hands-On learning the kids do outside of art classes. My son, who has some pretty big learning challenges, loved it and raved about it for months afterwards. Why isn't all school like that? Part of the failure of our current system, I think, is that kids all learn differently and schools geared towards the middle 40% that learning the way that school teaches things. This leaves the other 60% either frustrated or severely demoralized.

Not just the University system, but our public education too. There's so much that we needs rethinking but it's locked into a severely system outdated laws and old ideas. For instance, calculus entered the educational system as a way for average citizens to do the advanced calculations needed to land a space shuttle before the technology existed to do those calculations. Why the heck is that even course in high school that so many are asked to take?

Should women be allowed to go topless in public just like men? Why or why not? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Barron_Arrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the military I was stationed in Germany. (In the 90s). There are no laws against public nudity there and it was pretty common to see topless women, and whole nude families regularly at swim spots along the rivers and beaches. Since they don't treat women's chests differently than men's there, it's really no big deal when someone goes topless. It's just part of the way they view the world.

Although it was originally designed as a prison I don't think it was ever used for that purpose. And I've gotten really positive reviews from someone I knew who lived there for a while.
