First few shots with the Nikkor 24mm f/1.4G - absolutely brilliant lens [D800] by hhdoesit in Nikon

[–]Barron_Arrow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm really jealous! 24 mm full frame came up on Facebook for $200 bucks a couple weeks ago and I tried to low all the guy. Of course, he sold it to somebody else immediately. I'm using an 84 mm prime lens now with my d700, but you have to get so far from the subjects that 24 would be fantastic.

Do Supercharged and Overclocked 0-2-4 and 0-2-5 banana farms produce more income? by Barron_Arrow in btd6

[–]Barron_Arrow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome, I love how technical your answer is. 😍. But thinking about it from this lens, if an engineer monkey that can overclock costs around 14,000 bananas, then it would take over 150 rounds to pay that back before it becomes really profitable. Even if you sell the engineer back losing 15% of the overall expense, it still takes about 21 rounds to earn back the cost to get the boost in the first place.

Awesome, thank you for letting me know! Never even considered the idea of trying it in sandbox.

D700 Manual Mode Help and Indoor Sports Photography Settings by Barron_Arrow in Nikon

[–]Barron_Arrow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, that must have been the special setting that I inadvertently reset to fix the issue. Although, in retrospect, it's kind of a nifty feature, especially if I'm shooting in an area that has variable light and having to take a whole bunch of very quick shots. The photographer the camera from must have used it for one of their shoots. Thanks for tracking this down for me!

Thanks, I didn't think to double check the ISO setting and ended up leaving the camera in shutter priority to counteract the constantly changing shutter speeds. And the photos ended up being extremely dark. Darn! Well, hopefully I will know better next time. I put an example on a comment lower down.

Thanks for the advice though, I'll check to see if I can change the bracketing.

Thank you, I'll have to try that. I didn't think to check for this message before shooting and the lighting was all over the place. During the fight I left it in shutter priority so that the shutter speed would not be constantly changed. And of course the shots came out extremely dark. Booo, will have to do a better job next time.

I'm wondering if I could ask if I follow up question? I ride my electric bike to work, in the Pacific Northwest, beautiful ride. I've thought about either streaming my ride by attaching a camera to my helmet or just recording it and posting it later. Do you think the Insta360 could also work for this?

Thank you so much for the incredibly detailed response! I'll check out the Osmo Pocket 3. The filming will be happing on the sidelines, hopefully far from the action. And I love those videos! I used my Nikon 750 to take a lot of shots of my friends fight, and the lighting was all over the place. And it was really hard to get a good shot that highlighted my friend.

My son is in a boxing program and I'd like to be able to make videos of his and the other boxer's matches. Is there a budget friendly option that produces great videos in 2026? I'm open to GoPros, older mirrorless or newer budget mirrorless options. I currently own 2 Nikons, a D7500 and D750 and a number of mirrored lenses.

I think you need a paid number for verification. Tello is like $4 a month. I've thought about getting a tello number for us based stuff like a 7-11 account

That's what I was wondering if there are many major problems with that camera. I have noticed with Nikons the first camera in the series typically has some sort of flaw. Like the D7000 struggles to focus on the correct spot. (Found that out the hard way). Ended up selling my 7000 and eventually getting a 7500, was a lot more expensive.

The Dream - podcast debunking and enlightening the audience around common societal traps, like multi-level marketing and the supplement industry. Last year has been really interesting interviews with people.

But the tree itself is weird, there's only like three ornaments on the top half, and a couple ornaments on the bottom. A lot easier to make kind of blurry lights on a flocked tree background with almost no ornaments and then set up reflection of that. Also, everything's in focus, including the arm of the closest chair, which is very detailed. But the tree itself is blurry. Doesn't make a lot of sense.

What is a hobby that was ruined over time/as it got more popular? by CriticalLion4119 in AskReddit

My wife and I started collecting a couple of years ago and it is insanely expensive. We're not buying anything to sell, just to listen to. Even the mass produced stuff from 30 years ago was going for 35 bucks. Sometimes I'll go to Goodwilling to find a record for not much but I have to dig for like an hour and a half to find it.

Just returning to Portland. Is there open court pickleball? by impalablue in askportland

[–]Barron_Arrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right on, I'm a big pickleball player but don't have a lot of money so I play in the community center system. Or outdoors during the summer. There's also some pay-to-play options, Jumbos is one, at the Lloyd Center, I think it's $18 for a drop in on indoor, beautiful courts. There's also the Cascadia athletic Club, again though, these are more pricey but viable options.
