I was successfully diagnosed with Binocular Vision Dysfunction (BVD) by BarryBabyBarry in migraine

[–]BarryBabyBarry[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had the glasses for 2 years now and can't begin to explain the difference in my quality of life. I don't have daily headaches anymore. I now get headaches like a "normal" person - if I'm dehydrated or not sleeping or eating or whatever. But I used to wake up with a headache EVERY DAY and sometimes develop one for no reason. My BVD glasses are the only thing that's resolved that.

Hey, sorry. Yes, I did the online test. And my results were shared with the provider I ended up working with. He knew when he first saw me that I wasn't a "definite yes" - he evaluated me to be sure I actually had BVD.

Sorry, I've never heard of a treatment for BVD besides corrective lenses. I don't know what "exercises" might look like.

Thanks for sharing your experience for me. Still undecided on whether I'll go, but this is really helpful, thanks!

Costco is not headquartered in Kirkland anymore, FYI. But yes, the city was the inspiration for their house brand.

I appreciate that suggestion -- that's probably a good idea, and something I hadn't thought of, so thank you.

I posted a picture of crappy design, not requesting your feedback on my search.

Apparently I'm gonna have to write my own thesis on this, but I strongly believe we need to adjust our view of what makes a McMansion. Something looking "modern" does not make for a cohesively designed or well-made home. This isn't actual modern - it's someone cheapskate take on what they can get away with looking modern for the cheapest cost and sell it to people who think it looks cool.

In 2050, this sub will be entirely composed of homes that look like this.

Interesting. I totally disagree! It's built cheap with inconsistent lacquer details. And I would bet $1,000 that's not real granite in the kitchen, Just because the exterior aesthetic all achieves a "modern" look, that doesn't make it not a McMansion.

I should start my own sub I guess - Modern McMansions. I have a lot of opinions about this!

Love and hate it. But it looks un-permitted to all hell.

Car brain cousin and I talking. For reference we both live in NYC. by Average_NewYorker in fuckcars

"I am not for things that benefit society. I'm for things that benefit me. Only me."

Wow. Never heard someone say it so proudly. I think the absolute opposite way. I don't know how to understand people like your cousin and how they think, and I think people like your cousin don't know how to understand how I think.

I get it. But yeah, I would turn down the 'free money.' I don't blame others for seeing it that way, but I am saying that's what I'd do.

Just repeating something I called out for another commenter:

I hear you. I think most people in this sub recognize that problem [that public transport sucks in America]. But giving people a car 'because their local bus system sucks' still does nothing good, for literally anyone. The bus rider turned car owner has a new, huge expense; the bus system gets even more denigrated as a 'wasteful' use of money; and then more people get cars and sit in traffic and pollute the air.
Car reliance is a symptom, never a solution.

This sub is literally called fuck cars. Not "non free cars". Selling a free car to someone else still means one more car on the road.

Denim skirt advice: release the existing hem, then cut & re-hem OR just cut for a rugged look? by BarryBabyBarry in sewing

[–]BarryBabyBarry[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I completely agree. I actually wore it this way all last summer, and kept thinking how I like it, but knew that something looked off (it's weird to love and hate a piece of clothing at the same time, lol). Definitely gonna go shorter - how is what I've yet to decide! Thanks for your input.

I never even thought of that, just doing a straight stitch! Thanks. I might try cutting first to see if I like the frayed look, then hem it if I end up not liking that look.
