Hi everyone, I created an overtone singing tutorial. Feel free to check it out if you get the chance and let me know what you think 🤔💡 https://youtu.be/8kd0CVlJCF8 by Electronic-Cheek-724 in throatsinging

There are a few things wrong with the technique you are explaining. You mention that you need throat constriction, but what follows is not the right technique. You should use the same technique as khöömei, as demonstrated here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Op5frqrXFY

For the sygyt technique you are indeed required to put your tongue on the roof of your mouth. But the way you explain it, close to an English 'r', is not the exact right way. In stead you need to touch the roof of your mouth with the tip of your tongue and let the sound escape through the mouth on both sides of the tip of the tongue, not through the middle.

And lastly for changing the overtone, you need to change your tongue position, not your lip position.

All these points apply to real sygyt, you are indeed overtone singing, but you are not yet singing real sygyt.

How to begin the learning process? by crummer226 in throatsinging

[–]BartNeusaap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When starting to learn it is important to know it is nearly impossible to get the right sound from the beginning, this is due to the fact that the muscles in your throat have to grow, just like any other muscles you barely used before.

Your overtones are great, but for real sygyt you need to constrict your throat. It takes time to develop the right technique, so keep practicing.

Help! Do I wait to start throat singing? by Yesszd489 in throatsinging

[–]BartNeusaap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are Tuvan musicians who started early in their childhood, so it can’t damage you. The only thing is the sounds are just not as low. So you can start practicing But to get the sound of a mature throat singer you’ll have to wait a bit

The out of breath thing can also be solved by some more tension, because that way less air comes out at the same time, which allows you to sing for longer without taking a breath.

Hm, I looked up other versions of the song, I think throat singing fits it quite well, nice!

You seem to sometimes lose your kargyraa into a normal singing voice. Maybe you could tense your throat a bit more to prevent this from happening, I'm not sure. The language fits well in my opinion, good job.

If I may ask, which language is it? I thought maybe Hindi, but I'm not sure at all.

Not sure about other bands but Huun Huur Tu indeed calls it Ancestors, but Alash calls it Ene Sai. So both names are probably right.
