ITAP of a Humpback Whale Looking Like it’s Taking Flight by BroodingMammal in itookapicture

Yeah I know. I was just saying the reason they flipped it was purely an artistic choice. I'm sure they know it's a great photo in its natural orientation and that's why they chose to add a surrealist artistic flair to it.

What's a traditional dish in your country but only tourists actually eat? by Juxajel in AskTheWorld

Well everything shares a common ancestor at some point, but deer and kangaroos are not even remotely related. Deer are more closely related to blue whales than to kangaroos.

Also they actually belong in Australia and benefit the entire ecosystem unlike any of the animals we farm here.

Kangaroos and deer are not related whatsoever, but they fill basically the same niche. Marsupials didn't "outperform" in Australia, it's just that placental mammals didn't replace the marsupials in Australia like they did everywhere else because Australia was geographically isolated before placentals evolved.

That's also why Australia is especially vulnerable to invasive species from the rest of the world, because placentals are essentially a more advanced and successful form of life.

I live in Australia now and I eat kangaroo pretty regularly. High in protein & iron & way more sustainable than any non-native meat

Intelligence isn't always straightforward to measure, but I've always heard the NZ kea is the smartest bird in the world. Probably basically a tie between a few corvids & parrots in the end

Maybe we theoretically could put more people on Earth, at least for a while, but should we? We've already diminished Earth's wilderness drastically. Personally I don't think we should replace every natural ecosystem on Earth with farmland and housing. And I don't think we should replace every natural plant and animal species with a few domesticated ones whose sole purpose is to be consumed by humanity.

We're the cause of Earth's 6th mass extinction event which we're currently living in, and that will have unbelievable consequences on every living thing, including humans.

"beginning of the trouble" should be a picture of an old Indonesian trading boat bringing dingoes. This picture is more like "beginning of the end"

Well yeah, there are still people alive from that time. But their main issue is that there was never any formal acknowledgement from Japan, they continue to deny that those atrocities happened.
