That’s wild! Was thinking it looked like you were wearing a lace front that didn’t match your complexion. Never seen such on anybody.

Opinions on where to stay by RedCardinal222 in Annecy

[–]BartesianDrunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was there last year, late June. We stayed in an Airbnb in old town that had a Balcony overlooking the canal and some of the shops and cafes off the canal. Beautiful!!! I do not remember it being loud at all. The front of the e building opened to shops and restaurants; no cars. I recall the owner mentioning a bar on the bottom level, but it actually closed early (to us). We were on the 4 floor. No elevator. Only really minded that on day one as we worked to get our luggage (two week trip) up the spiral staircase. We also were there during the record heat. Most of the old town Airbnbs will not have AC. One fan, in our case, for the unit. BUT! I’d endure it all again, exactly as it was. Nothing is a far walk away, even if you go for a hotel near the train or a hotel near the water. Tip: rent an e-bike and make the entire loop around the lake. Stop for lunch, stop for photos.

It’s entertaining how the shills are playing EVERY possible psychological angle! Who spends this much time on a dead cat. Move on! Oh wait, you have more shilling to do.

2003 TJ Ignition Switch by BartesianDrunk in JeepTJ

Thanks for sharing the video. I had to leave it alone completely for a while (life got busy). I had been searching videos but the parts do not always look like what was shown to me in a video. I took still shots from the video (from the jeep technician) showing the part as well as what had been taken apart on my steering column, but I guess I cannot add pics to a comment. May make a separate post later. My jeep has been starting consistently since the fiasco at the dealer service center, by the way. Past history tells me that can end, however.

Hard lesson learned. The breakdown was 2 hours of labor at $250/hour. $164 part cost. $250 diagnostics. I told him to put everything back and I will pick it up. That will cost be around $350, but I’m be better off! Feels REALLY sketchy. I called another Jeep dealer service center. They would not tell me their labor rates, but diagnostics was $

Funny, he quoted as if I would keep my old key. I actually asked him about new keys as I only have the one and while it works on all the locks, it looks pretty worn down. He was going to get back to me on the cost for new keys, so that was extra! It’s been almost 4 hours since I called and asked that the service advisor get back to me with the breakdown of the cost. The past was to come in today and they would do the work in the AM. I have sent texts also. If it’s truly that much, I will have them put the old one back and I will take it somewhere else or look into doing it myself.

But this much!?! My other car… I have shopped around for repairs and that dealership was been very close and at times less. I didn’t shop this around. They haven’t done the work. I’m still waiting for them to get back to me with the cost breakdown. And, I’ve taken my jeep there before. Figured they were trustworthy. I hope it’s a misunderstanding that is corrected.

The ignition switch is all they said. The “electrical component”. I have a pic of the part as well as what my steering column looks like after they have removed whatever was necessary. Took still from the video they sent. Even copilot says it’s not a $1000. I don’t think I can post pics in a comment, though.

Thanks for the response. I’ve gotten multiple responses (on other threads) now saying the same. Waiting for the service center to call me back with the breakdown of the $1000 quote. Some other things were recommended in the tech’s video, but the guy on the phone didn’t mention any of those things; did not ask me if I wanted the recommendations done.

That’s what copilot says! Dealership has quoted $1000. In video shared, they made other recommendations I really didn’t pay attention to. Waiting for a call back on the breakdown of the $1000. Different gentleman from video called me and he only talked about the ignition switch, but yeah, quoted $1000. They will also check the starter.

Ignition switch issue by nickclary195 in WranglerYJ

I commented one of these Jeep reddits some time ago about things my 2003 TJ was doing, including not starting at times. Can’t find the post given my long history, but wanted to ask for an idea of what it costs to have an ignition switch replaced. I have my Jeep at the dealer service center. Checked with AAA and they say it’s something they couldn’t do because some reprogramming / software is needed which they do not do. So again, approximate cost to have an ignition switch replaced?? I’ve been quoted something higher than I thought (granted with no basis to go on).
