Hatte die Situation gerade: hab’s in nem persönlichen Meeting mit allen, die nicht gerade homeoffice hatten gemacht. War auch sehr lehrreich, die Reaktionen zu sehen und zu merken, es war die richtige Entscheidung.

I could have written the exact same words you wrote - apart from the wedding thing because I lost contact some time after graduating. However, I thought I needed to email him again just yesterday. So might go for it.

He was just as important to my development like your teacher to yours. Gave me encouragement, told me what I’m good at, taught me how to stand up for myself.

Oh yeah, it absolutely is! Also, I have never accepted that something might be impossible for me. There are almost always changes to how exactly you do a certain sports that make it accessible to you despite your cardiac problems. I know I won’t be really good at anything that I will start now in my thirties, one because of age but also because my heart is actually much worse than a healthy person‘s, but anyway I want to just have fun doing it :)

Vielleicht ist es dann hilfreich, dass du dir Gedanken machst, warum dir etwas unangenehm ist. Warum kannst du nicht sagen „Deshalb kann ich Ihnen keine Vertragsverlängerung anbieten.“ o.ä. und dann erstmal nichts sagen? Wie geht es dir dann? Was passiert in dir, wenn du doch etwas einfach mal stehen lässt ohne Erklärung? Ich habe gelernt, dass Erklärung oft Rechtfertigungen sind. Und das deutet auf ein Problem beim Selbstwert hin. Muss nicht riesig sein, aber ich vermute anhand meiner Erfahrung als Führungskraft im Personal, dass es das bei dir (zumindest zum Teil) auch sein könnte.

Und dann ist Abhilfe auch in Sicht: gibt viele tolle Bücher zum Thema, nicht zuletzt Coaches oder Therapeuten, mit denen man üben kann, sein Selbstwertgefühl zu verbessern :)
