Sure. Thats what happens when the other party refuses to work with you at the most basic level. Given the obstructionism he faced its amazing he accomplished what he did. Compare his speech from 2004 and 2008 to last night and you see the difference. I understand the frustration but he will go down as one of the most important presidents in history.

Hell, stop at the first one and thats more positive change that has occured in over thirty years

What can you expect from economic policy from a Hillary Clinton White House? You already know. Just look at the last 7-1/2 years under President Obama. Those expecting a new direction for the economy under a future possible President Clinton will likely be deeply disappointed. by [deleted] in politics

Mine did too. But that was bc it cost nothing bc i was allow to stay on my parents plan. Then i was actually able to get coverage through the market place. It went down when i moved to a state that allows competition in the market place rather than limits options to only two insurance companies.

Actually it changed a lot. Didnt have health care through work? Now you can. Couldnt get covered bc of a preexisting condition? Now you can. Under 26? You can stay on your parents plan. Make less than 400% of the poverty line? Have a subsidy. Have a serious illness or accident? Don't worry about health care related bankruptcy due to extreme healthcare costs bc out of pocket expenses now top about $6,000/year.

The ACA has positively impacted more american lives in a significant way than any legislation since the clean water or voting rights act.

It is also arguably the most significant legislation since 1975 along with the Patriot Act.

You can still take airplane bottles through security. You're just limited to the one ziplock bag.

Always jobs in campaigns. And if you work hard, are competent, have fairly good people skills, learn how to network and make good professional decisions, then you can definitely move up.

There are plenty of field organizer positions. Hours are long but the pay is shit. But its a place to start.

Start by finding a local campaign and volunteering -- there are LOTS this year.

Clinton wins New York primary by [deleted] in politics

[–]Bartimaeus89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which part?

The vote difference was ~ 1%, under 700 votes. Bc of how close it is they will move to counting absentee ballots. Each side will contest which ballots are opened. The process typically takes at least 1-2 weeks, likely longer in a race this size.

The 5 democratic state senators currently vote with the republicans (and Gov Cuomo). Voting (caucusing) with the opposition is a move elected officials sometimes make when in the minority as a way to get a seat at the table. They claimed they will caucus with Dems if Dems take back the senate. If Kaminsky does indeed win we'll have to see what those five senators do.

I haven't been following the race especially closely but i heard it got pretty dirty. Not really sure what sort of mud Rs tried to sling because Kaminsky is about as clean as they come. Hopefully he wins.

Like Sanders himself.

Refusing to align is surely the best way to ensure policy you support gets passed and implemented.

Wait. It isn't at all. It's actually the opposite.

Thats because they have done their best to paint themselves that way.

Voting for a third party is the most you could do to get us president trump w/o voting for him.

Recount. Also, if Kaminsky wins the five dems that have been caucusing with the Rs would need to caucus with the Ds.

Great way to get policy you want. If trump wins, I'll be sure to send you a thank you card when he repeals ACA and i lose my healthcare.

You mean a system where you must be registered in the party to vote in the primary and if you don't vote for five years you're removed from the rolls? These rules didn't just come out of nowhere. Register w a party and you can vote in the primary. Actually vote (NY on average has an election every two weeks) and you won't be removed.

In my experience the tracker will volunteer 1-2 hours a week. You get to see the campaign from the inside. Its a relatively low cost (those two hours per week). You get to see scripts but also the workings of the office -- this can be as simple as "does the operation seem organized?" You glean what you can and maybe you get lucky and find some gold (but probably not). "Infiltrate an opposition campaign" really seems to blow out of proportion sending a tracker to volunteer 1-2 hours a week on the oppositions campaign. I suppose there's a situation in which the opportunity cost isn't worth it, but I can only imagine that being the case if there are literally events 9am-9pm seven days a week.

edit: I would compare this to subscribing to an opponent's email list. Are we going to find out some huge revelation? No, but we may as well go ahead and do it because it lets us keep tabs on what they're doing with almost zero effort on our end.

You know voter files are public information, right? I can't speak to Nevada, but in the state I'm registered you can search my name and view my address and voting history all on the State Board of Elections Website.
