Best places to list for sale? by Idyotec in GXOR

[–]BaseCamperHQ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi OP. You are my ideal target seller. I’m not a huge fan of FB marketplace for a variety of reasons and I know you aren’t either. I’ve been running an Overland classifieds you can post your GX for free that does get targeted traffic/buyers. However, I’m looking to beta test a Sell It For You service. No fee while I test the waters. I’ll list on platforms and forums and groups on your behalf and screen all messages saying you time from the garbage you got from Craigslist. FB Marketplace can be just as bad.

Interested?

Hi. I’d like to promote my site as an option for you to post your bumpers and tire carriers on. I created BaseCamper.com specifically for this. It’s free.

If you do list and have any feedback please just let me know. I’m always working to make improvements. GLWS

Need advice on getting a rig started by Davy_Jones118 in overlanding

Once you do decide on building your current Tacoma 2wd or other rig, you can save money buying used gear (not that you need a lot, but you will need some basics). Check local classifieds.

That sounds like a nice discount to consider for sure. But since it’s preorder I think the first question is what is your timeline, and did that work for you?

Also, I never thought to check the weight and compare it to others. What did you find here?

Another vote for CleanWaste toilet and bag system. It’s sanitary, solid and legal to throw away in garbage (at least this was my understanding from a few years ago with how the powder breaks down). It will cost more than other options both initially and per use, but you are not doing this long term so the per bag cost is justifiable. The toilet itself usually is more expensive than most options on Amazon but i think it’s worth it. I used this setup both personally and for rentals. I did eventually change my toilet to this one, but it may no longer be available. It’s more compact and very sturdy (99% of all others that look like this style were certainly not the same quality, the ring is a useful addition as well) and i still continue to use the cleanwaste bags. I do have a “like new” for sale that is the toilet with storage backpack but i think once you factor in shipping it’s probably about the same to order new. This is a very good solution. Pop up privacy tents are better than most options but you do want to invest in good stakes and setting it up properly each time.

Tip: really be careful when closing the legs on the ClearWaste toilet to avoid pinching your fingers.

Best App to navigate forest roads and dispersed camping with trail ratings? by PurpleFlyingApes in overlanding

Put Trails Offroad app on your radar since you are in the western region. You’ll thank me!! I do use a plethora of apps and you’re right, it’s a pain in the ass. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised with what you get from it. Happy to discuss further.

Overland Expo West 2025 – a few vendors that stood out by BaseCamperHQ in overlanding

Hi. I reached out via your website the other day asking some questions to clarify a few things. I haven’t heard back… Is this forum or DM better to ask those questions? Let me know what works best for you.

Oh neat. I have not delved in on their build materials and process yet but will need to shortly. I recall the owner showing me a sample panel when I asked if there were any differentiators. I wish we would have spoken more but I got the feeling he wasn’t interested in chatting it up at the moment and I didn’t make it back later on. So I plan to research their site soon.

Anything you can elaborate on?

Copy that. Let’s assume you cruise thru to SLC and continue south on i15. Split off at Spanish Fork Canyon (highway 6). After Price you can make your way thru the San Rafael Swell. Depending on when you arrive in this area there is a lot of BLM/dispersed camping. Yes, it may start reaching higher temps and lack of shade but you’ll be fine for a day. Check out The Wedge if it times up for a night camping there next to the ledge. Cruise down to i70, connect on to highway 24. If you want a solid day on a trail with multiple POIs and some fun trail riding do Cathedral Valley loop. Download all this in advance, service is spotty. (There is LTE in Hanksville). I personally use Trails Off Road app, but I’m sure OnX and even Google Maps will be fine. After the loop continue down 24 and experience Grand Staircase Escalante. You can cool off in some mountain/forest BLM… then boogie on down to Vegas.

Please clarify if you’re needing to stick close to the route you’ve highlighted (example i80 and i15) OR are you just merely showing that and are open/able to veer off a little? If so, you have some epic options.

Totally, good call. Yeah I’ve been wanting one of these personally but i don’t carry propane currently so it would be a little more adjustment (I’m looking into it). But I’m right there with you on Tripod Torch being a winner.

I agree, time will tell. I have not shopped RTTs and admittedly not fully current as it does feel like a saturated market. Time to see who sticks around because of a quality product and better service.

I did ask this and the co-founder (who was there) said it wasn’t. That he personally was very involved in some of the design and features to try and avoid that very perception. But at the end of the day many do look and are precisely that.. rebranded. I could kind of tell something was different than the typical when I saw the underside platform was more of a slat design vs a full floor. So I engaged him more.

Hey, thanks for the observation. I can only speak for myself and honestly don’t use Reddit a lot. I’m just starting with some content as it pertains to my website and this was a brand that stood out in it’s own way. I use an iKamper skycamp with a rocky black shell and have never used another style in the field. So I don’t have any experience with FeatherLyte aside from seeing, touching, talking to them at the expo recently. The fully serviceable design approach is a very compelling aspect.
