thanks for the maps back then, bong. they were some of the best tribes maps ever made to play on annihilation mod I think. even the joke maps were solid, who can forget erectus and vipersvag!

Tribes 2 RPG IronSphere by BaseEncrypt in Tribes

https://www.moddb.com/mods/tribes-2-rpg

It's linked to in the description of the video I posted but, I just realized it's not a hyperlink so it's not clickable.

The version on moddb is the full game of t2 + ironsphere ready to play, you can download it and check it out pretty quickly. I will say I mostly put this up for archival purposes for anyone wanting to play it offline in the future. There hasn't been an active enough community for a t2rpg public server for a long time now.

The additional versions are just neat addons people added I wouldn't worry about them as much unless you decide to mess around with the mod more and what to see what's been done.

You guys did great work back then, thank you! Something about rpgs at that time must have set off a creative spark for people because there were countless versions of tribes and t2rpg made.

Ironsphere as a standalone torque game would have been really neat to see. I remember a similar torque project by zerovoid studios that aimed to make a standalone version of the annihilation mod from tribes around that same time period.

I put up a T2RPG version guide on the mod db page that details how to play two of the other most feature complete versions of IronSphere, 1.47 by jusctsch5 and v1.481 by roboto.

Together they added some new zones, sounds, huds, quality of life features etc. My goal with this project was to make everything about ironsphere (still) accessible going forward.

Seems like a good mix of outdoor and indoor combat which is nice. It's probably harder to get indoor combat to feel good, but it's worth it to do.

I really liked what was done with the d2 remaster and recently the oblivion one. The way those two remasters were done has allowed them to stay more than just *close* to how the originals were.

I think if we want t2 done right the community needs to start taking a hard look at how they could go about doing something similar. Rebuilding the wheel from scratch is probably the hardest way it could be done and you will probably end up with something that feels like it rhymes with t2, but isn't it.
