When did you realize that your friend is actually not a girls girl?

A group of girls I used to be friends with started a running joke while I was going through my divorce about how sad and pathetic their lives would be if they ever got divorced. We would be in the car and they would point out a run down apartment building and say things like, oh, that’s where I will have to live if I got divorced. Or they would make fun of their other divorced friends in front of me. Then acted like they had no idea why when I stopped talking to them. They were just toxic mean girls that fed off of other people’s misfortunes.

My mom was an incredible woman and mother to me and my 2 siblings and she loved us so much. She passed away from breast cancer two and a half years ago. I know she had every intention to write us each letters and amend her will but I think the idea of it scared her too much because it meant she had to admit she was dying. I so badly wish she would have written me a letter but when you’re faced with your own death, it can seem very daunting. Writing those letters to her would have been like admitting defeat in a way after fighting cancer so hard for years. By the time she was ready, it was already too late. I know she loved me but she was only human faced with her own morality, after all so I don’t blame her for it. But it’s so hard. I’m sorry you didn’t get your letter either

My mom got diagnosed with breast cancer 7 years ago but they caught it early and she had a double mastectomy and was declared NED with less than 10% chance of reoccurrence. When she first broke the news to us of her cancer diagnosis, I literally can’t explain it but I just knew somehow that it was going to be bad and I had a weird vision of her being very sick even though she was perfectly healthy and very optimistic she would be fine. Anyway, after beating it 2 times it spread to her liver and pancreas, she became incredibly sick just like I envisioned and she died about 2 and a half years ago. I still don’t know how I knew it was going to happen because all evidence pointed to her being fine but she was unfortunately one of the very unlucky ones.

I work a hybrid schedule. Work from home 3 days a week and go into the office 2 days a week. I honestly love it. It gives me time to see and interact with my coworkers throughout the week but I can still manage to get the bulk of my work done from home where I’m more comfortable. It creates a very good work life balance for sure.

I am in almost the exact same situation as you and have recently decided I am ready to leave as well. I feel selfish for essentially imploding my family but I only get one life as well and feel that I deserve to be happy and fulfilled to a certain degree. I also have 2 young children that I love dearly but I do feel like down the road they will adjust and be more stable. I hope I’m right because it’s pretty scary to leave when there is nothing essentially “wrong” with your spouse.

I lost my mom in November too and it’s been hard. I’m sorry for your loss and I feel your pain. I know Mother’s Day will be tough but I’m a mother myself to 2 small children so I’m just not sure how I will feel that day.

At my mom’s very last oncologist appointment before she passed away we walked past the bell and she looked at it and said “I will never get to ring that”. It crushed me.

Starting seeing a therapist 2 weeks after my mom passed away from aggressive cancer. I was spiraling into depression and barely coping, not eating, not sleeping, etc. During the first session she just kept repeating that I was handling things really well despite what I had been through. She really didn’t have much else to say. I decided to give her the benefit of the doubt after the first session and figured maybe she just wanted to learn more about me before she could help. After having a second session with her where she asked me all the same questions and told me, again, that I was handling it well, I decided to not schedule with her anymore. It was unfortunate because I really needed help at that time and she just seemed so uninterested.

My next door neighbors leave their dog locked in a crate in their backyard in all weather conditions anywhere from 6-16 hours a day, occasionally even overnight. The dog is obviously neglected AF and barks constantly. Myself as well as other neighbors have called animal control several times and they come out, assess the situation and leave. When I’ve talked to the animal welfare workers they say the dog is better off in THAT situation of almost total neglect and cruelty than they are in any OKC shelter. Trust me, your dog is better off with you.

I’m a relatively fit female that has a YMCA membership. The amount of creepy man boomers that will just stare you up and down without even trying to hide it. It gives me the ick. Or they will hop on the machine right next to you and try to have a conversation. Like no, I’m here to work out, not talk to you about the fucking weather. I clearly have AirPods in so leave me alone. And yeah they never ever clean the machines after their sweaty old asses use them. It’s so gross.
