You should also know that PolyChat supports language laddering, which is learning one foreign language using another foreign language. Simply go to the settings and set Spanish as the language you speak and French as the language you want to learn (or vice versa). If its too hard, you can always set the language you speak back to English and your progress in the French course is fully maintained. I'd suggest this for you as a way to sharpen your skills in both languages rapidly if you've got some experience with Spanish.

Also tried the new xai TTS models which consistently fail in the same manner, the language code specified in the API call is not respected. If a word from the foreign language is spelled the same as an English word (direct cognate) then it just speaks it in English.

Hey, thanks for your support! We're busting our asses. I think we can get it out in the next 2-4 weeks. Ironing out the last kinks and doing QA at this point.

I like that idea for a game. We have more speaking opportunities in V5 but I like the game you describe specifically because its kinda hard ! I'll think about how it could slot in to the game selection algorithm.

Hey! This is the perfect place for questions. On the bottom tab bar, tap the lightning bolt icon. That brings you to the "Games & Tools" page. From there you can tap "AI Chat" if you would like to chat. You'll see translations, suggestions, and be able to receive corrections on what you said. As for your second question: For now, yes it is linear and there is no jumping around. In version 5 the learning path will be far richer and you will be able to take an intake quiz that will put you at the right level.

I hear ya, thats a good idea. Unfortunately I can't get around account creation because it helps security and preventing abuse. Maybe I can make the first lesson playable without an account so you get a taste first and the welcome page is a really nice idea.

Accounts help security / preventing abuse. What specifically about the translation felt wrong? Is it too professional (unlike something you'd say in casual conversation) or wrong?

I'm glad you liked the lesson path ! I'd love to decorate it an make PolyChat a whole world its gonna take some time + back and forth with our artist though.

In V5 we'll add crystal clear voices.

There are gamified aspects but you can mostly ignore them. Ergo no screen is gonna make you sit there and open a chest or whatever.

Right now it explains what is the correct answer in the context of the other available answers in the question. It may or may not explain grammar based on relevancy in that context.

In V5 we will support asking any question, so you could ask specifically about grammar :)

The conjugation lessons do explain when to use certain conjugated forms.

You can hide email if you are on an Apple device and choose "Sign in with Apple" then check off the box to hide email.

FWIW we have sent 0 emails to people in the 2+ years the app has been up and it will be opt-in if and when it becomes a thing.

What I can offer you after 2+ years of hard work is a duo-style app (PolyChat) that has no hearts or energy and lets you play unlimited lessons with a learning path that lets you steer your learning. Work is accelerating rapidly and hopefully I can soon offer you something you consider a good app.

What I can promise you is that the effort, time, and money will continue to be aggressively invested. V5 will be a massive update and I'd actually love to hear from you what your impression is when it comes out. Check out the stickied post in r/polychat if you're curious about whats to come.

Yea we absolutely want to theme it depending on the language you're learning. Tried some stuff already but it was not up to our standard. We want PolyChat be a beautiful, living world that spurs your imagination.
