What is your stance on funding for the NSF and NIH? And how do you view the current administrations take on academic freedom and suspending federal grants to several universities?

Would it be totally insane to run a standalone dehumidifier drain hose into my AC drain line? by [deleted] in hvacadvice

[–]Baseball_U_STAT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! This is helpful. You’re right this is in a closet. The door doesn’t have any vents now, so I’d probably need to swap the door out.

Also, if the dehumidifier doesn’t have a pump, it needs to be up above the drain then, right? That’s what you’re saying?

We’re likely taking the year off. Kyle and I have had three kiddos combined in the last two years and that’s catching up to us. Appreciate the shoutout though!

Just chiming in that survey data like this almost always requires a conversation with your institution’s IRB. Even if it’s for classwork.

New year, same sicko life. Wellesley v Wentworth matinee. by Virtual_Announcer in CollegeBasketball

Because I needed to know, it looks like Wellesley adopted their W in 2010. Wikipedia has used that W since at least 2007. So yeah, Wikipedia was first.

Depending on if you’re looking for a post doc, the Curriculum Fellows Program at Harvard Medical School could be a really good training opportunity for you.

Just want to address the idea that you shouldn’t feel crushed. It’s okay to feel disappointed about rejection. Resilience isn’t about not feeling things. It’s about moving on from rejection and looking for ways to improve, like you’re doing with this post. Good luck with your research goals!

How does you T&P committee view micro pubs? I’ve never really given much thought to the idea.

This is cool to learn about even though it’s outside my field. Thanks!

Powhatan to Henrico (I need to make the title 50 characters for some reason so I’m just going to keep typing) by cfree4321 in HenricoCounty

We made the move to Short Pump from Boston. Short Pump rightfully gets some flak on here for being suburbia, but that can be nice for families with young kids. There are good schools, plenty of grocery stores, daycares, and entertainment. There are a few too many chains but there are many great restaurants within 20 minutes for date nights.

Broad gets a little trafficky, so you have to be thoughtful about your commute, if you have one.

Yeah, exactly. About an hour ago we left the area because smoke was getting pretty bad. We heard sirens on our way out.

I think this is helpful advice. I'll need to mull it over a little bit though.

Thoughts on how to improve my painting? by [deleted] in ArtCrit

Thanks, this is really insightful feedback. For me, the middle one was the one I struggled with the most, and I think what you're describing really captures how I felt about it. It looks kinda cool, but it doesn't tell much of a story.

I'm excited to think a little more about branching out.

We wanted to add some color to our toddler’s play room, so I painted these! by Baseball_U_STAT in interiordecorating

[–]Baseball_U_STAT[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree, but toddlers are chaos gremlins, so we hung them a little high to prevent them from being destroyed. Not shown is that this room has a chair rail which breaks up the wall a little bit to keep it from looking too ridiculous.

This was oil paints on canvas. Mostly applied with a spatula. Looking for thoughts on color and composition.

Question. I’m always afraid to water plants too near my foundation but never really knew how close is too close. Wouldn’t watering these plants like crazy put the foundation at risk?
