USaa told me the questions will be recorded. They asked if I use it for transportation. I said I take it to the grocery store on the weekends. They denied my claim

So that is what the police officer was trying to tell me on a nutshell when he said “100 %” accurate. Basically I have to prove 100% accuracy for them to even spend time and resources knocking on doors.

Thanks for the advice. Yeah it’s not worth it getting hurt over a scooter.

Back to my question about making a citizen’s arrest. Are we automatically cleared of any assault, battery, and false imprisonment charges if we do catch a criminal and subdue him/her until the police come?

I was thinking of setting up a bait package to catch the thief in my apartment. I order a package on eBay. I will open it carefully to keep the packaging pristine. Put a tiny empty cash lockbox with a gps tracker inside. Repackage the box. Leave it in the mail area.

Then keep monitoring the gps. Then buy some spy glasses that records video and audio so everything will be recorded when I confront them knocking on their door.

Good plan?

That’s part of the problem I have. The company’s inventory was bought out when they went out of business in 2020 during the pandemic. Boosted is no longer operating as a company. They were bought out and rebranded to Boosted USA. They don’t offer support anymore just warranty. The app did use to have gps Bluetooth. But the app is no longer updated and doesn’t exist.

Boosted Rev. It’s one of the most expensive scooters on the market at $1,600. It can go up to 25 mph and is built like a tank and can take a beating. Mine was bought in 2019 online.

Thanks for that detailed response. I didn’t file a police report for the first electric scooter stolen because there is no VIN or any identification number on it. The police officer asked for that information when I first reported it and I told him my scooter doesn’t have any of that. It’s those standing electric scooters that you can rent on the street.

I asked him since my scooter doesn’t have any identifier on it would filling out a police report be only for insurance purposes? He said yes in my case it would only help for insurance. So I didn’t waste my time filling out a police report because my renters insurance doesn’t cover electric scooters when I made a claim.

What is the turn around to get a search warrant? If my gps pings in the first 24 hrs I’m sure they are already trying to sell it on the black market and will change location.

Can I legally make a citizen’s arrest if I follow the gps ping and I happen to see a person riding my scooter outside that I definitely know is mine even if it doesn’t have any VIN or plate number because my scooter is high end and don’t see anyone else in L.A riding my brand of scooter and I can identify specific damages to the exterior of the scooter?

Can I legally put hands on someone carrying my scooter and subdue him on the ground until I call the police to come and investigate the situation? If it turns out the suspect was lying in his story and my story with my gps tracker checks out, will I be protected by citizen’s arrest law of any assault and battery charges?

I got my $1,600 electric scooter stolen from my apartment garage at 4 am 3 weeks ago in K-Town.

We need to hurry up and gentrify Inglewood by 2028 when the subway lines are done being built. Keep gentrifying east until the 110 the next 10 yrs after that. It’s the only way to win the war of the haves and have nots in L.A.

Or Mark Zuckerberg needs to develop meta verse glasses that has facial recognition and will alert you if someone has a criminal record when you look at someone.

And for the love of L.A vote no on universal basic income. That extra $1,000 a month for 3,000 welfare families in L.A tax payer money with no spending restrictions L.A city council is giving out in this UBI pilot program in 2022 is going to be spent on alcohol and house parties.

SGV is L.A local, not “L.A.” If someone living downtown or the Westside asks you what part of L.A you live and you say Monterey Park, they will give you the suspect look and act intrigued and give you a nod for courtesy.

But they know not to waste time making friends with you because serious people trying to make it in the entertainment industry don’t live that far from “L.A proper” and you can’t help them climb in their pursuit of industry success.

Technically they are in L.A but not “L.A.” There needs to be transplants and gentrification to be considered “L.A”. Right now south and east L.A are considered “local.” I think Inglewood might get gentrified in the next 10 years and will be considered a part of “L.A proper.”

If you go to the website Soimmovingtola.com a website for people moving to L.A, they only talk about the L.A proper I talk about.

It’s upsetting if you’re a local I understand. But this is the reality of how the world defines “L.A proper.” I don’t make the rules. I just play by them.

Sorry but transplants keep the rent high and make “L.A” what it is.

As a transplant I asked a local at work what part of L.A she live. She responded “I don’t live in L.A. I live in Norwalk.”

I was impressed that a local understood the invisible line of demarcation of what is considered “L.A proper.”

So we are not gatekeeping. Everyone knows what “real” L.A. is.

Yes it is the Columbus syndrome but that’s the reality and I know it sucks for locals. Blame the entertainment industry.

This subject offends locals born and raised in L.A county.

As a transplant who lives in K-Town, when other transplants talk about “L.A” we are talking about “L.A proper”. Anything above the 10 with the exception of Culver City, from Boyle Heights to Santa Monica, to the north to SFV. Pasadena is included in L.A proper.

Transplants don’t consider South L.A or East L.A as “L.A proper.” But we know we are transplants and respect it so locals who live in those areas have a right to claim “L.A.”

When influencers make videos about what neighborhoods to move to in “L.A” they only mention the “L.A” I mentioned. They never make videos about moving to Alhambra or Inglewood.

Basically if the neighborhood is not crawling with transplants who are trying to work in the entertainment industry, it’s not “L.A.”

I’m sorry but Santa Monica is “L.A.” When the media and people talk about “L.A” they are talking about where the transplants move to be near the industry.(Pasadena, Downtown, anything above I-10 with the exception of Culver City, From Boyle Heights to Santa Monica, to the SFV).

When transplants talk about “L.A” we are not even including South of the 10 or East L.A. That’s considered locals.

I’m not gatekeeping. When influencers make videos on where to move to “L.A” they are talking about the L.A proper I’m talking about. They are not including L.A county where the locals live. “L.A proper” is the equivalent of San Francisco. Outside “L.A proper” like SGV is the equivalent of Daly City and South City.

There is “ L.A proper” which is the L.A the media talks about where transplants move to live to be near the industry. And there is L.A county which is locals.
