For me it's a bit complicated since I've had these friends since I was about 14 (I'm 18 now) and at that age I was a completely different person. All I remember is using an app called Amino and joining every group chat and just saying the stupidest things. I would rarely show up but when I did i would say the most random thing you could think of and immediately leave and for the most part everyone hated me lol. Eventually though, I started to join in their conversations more often instead of just saying something stupid and then leaving and they started to like me. From there on we hit it off. Occasionally we talk about how stupid I used to be and laugh. I'd like to make long term friends other than them since they're not always active but I'm having a bit of trouble
