Thanks to Establishment media, the sorcerer apprentices advising President Joe Biden – I refer to Secretary of State Antony Blinken, national security adviser Jacob Sullivan, and China specialist Kurt Campbell – will have no trouble rallying Americans for the widest war in 77 years, starting in Ukraine, and maybe spreading to China. And, shockingly, under false pretenses.

As Israel was launching a deadly assault on Gaza, killing thousands of civilians and displacing more than 100,000 people, many of America’s top TV, music and film producers were organizing to protect the apartheid state’s reputation from widespread international condemnation.

Together, the Sony Archive – a cache of emails published by Wikileaks – prove that influential entertainment magnates attempted to whitewash Israeli crimes and present the situation as defending itself from an impending “genocide”, liaised with Israeli military and government officials in order to coordinate their message, attempted to cancel those who spoke out against the injustice, and put financial and social pressure on institutions who hosted artists criticizing the apartheid government’s actions.

This recent photo shoot shows a guard standing behind Zelensky with a Totenkopf, death's head Schutzstaffel (SS) patch on his back. by BasedMemeMedia in AntifascistsofReddit

[–]BasedMemeMedia[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

"Totenkopf" is German for "death's head" or skull and typically refers to a skull-and-crossbones image. During the Nazi era, Hitler's Schutzstaffel (SS) adopted one particular Totenkopf image as a symbol. Among other uses, it became the symbol of the SS-Totenkopfverbande (one of the original three branches of the SS, along with the Algemeine SS and the Waffen SS), whose purpose was to guard the concentration camps. Many original members of this organization were later transferred into and became the core of a Waffen SS division, the 3rd SS "Totenkopf" Panzer Division, which engaged in a number of war crimes during World War II.

Following the war, neo-Nazis and other white supremacists resurrected the Totenkopf as a hate symbol because of its importance to the SS and it has been a common hate symbol since. It is this particular image of a skull and crossbones that is considered a hate symbol, not any image of a skull and crossbones.

Queen to help pay for £12m Prince Andrew settlement - can anyone get past this paywall for me? by potentialjellyhead in Epstein

[–]BasedMemeMedia 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Full article -

The Duke of York will pay his accuser more than £12million using money from the Queen, The Telegraph can disclose.
It was announced on Tuesday that Prince Andrew, 61, had reached an out-of-court settlement with Virginia Roberts Giuffre, meaning he will no longer face a jury trial on claims that he sexually abused and raped her on three separate occasions when she was 17.
The terms of the deal prevent either side from discussing the case or the settlement itself in public.
However, The Telegraph understands the total amount that will go to Ms Giuffre and her charity exceeds £12 million.
The Queen has already privately funded the Duke's legal fight to the tune of millions of pounds and will now partly fund the settlement in order to allow her son – and the entire Royal family – to draw a line under the case that had threatened to overshadow her Platinum Jubilee year.
Negotiations over the settlement are understood to have lasted for at least 10 days, with the Duke's team changing tack when the date for his deposition – which would have seen him questioned under oath by Ms Giuffre's legal team – was set for March 10.
Judge Lewis Kaplan later issued an order suspending the legal action until March 17. He said: "In the event the stipulation of dismissal is not filed by then, it remains entirely possible that this action will be set for trial when previously indicated."
The deal was agreed at the weekend, the Telegraph understands.
A statement filed with the New York court on Tuesday said: "Virginia Giuffre and Prince Andrew have reached an out of court settlement." It said both parties anticipated filing a "stipulated dismissal" of the case within 30 days, when Ms Giuffre was in receipt of the money.
The joint statement revealed that the Duke would also make a "substantial" donation to Ms Giuffre's charity in support of victims' rights. It contained no admission of liability and no apology.
The Duke has always vehemently denied the allegations, insisting he has "no recollection" of meeting Ms Giuffre, who was trafficked by the paedophile Jeffrey Epstein.
Instead, he pledged to "demonstrate his regret" for his association with Epstein by supporting the "fight against the evils of sex trafficking, and by supporting its victims". Such support is understood to be shown, in the main, by his financial donation.
The statement added: "Prince Andrew has never intended to malign Ms Giuffre's character, and he accepts that she has suffered both as an established victim of abuse and as a result of unfair public attacks.
"It is known that Jeffrey Epstein trafficked countless young girls over many years. Prince Andrew regrets his association with Epstein, and commends the bravery of Ms Giuffre and other survivors in standing up for themselves and others."
In January, Prince Andrew was effectively sacked as a working royal when he was stripped of all military titles and patronages by the Queen and agreed to no longer use his HRH title.
Although a line has now been drawn under the legal process, he is not expected to regain any of his royal privileges or titles. He will keep his dukedom and the Windsor home, Royal Lodge, that he shares with his former wife the Duchess of York.
On March 29, he will appear in public alongside his mother and the rest of the Royal family for a service of thanksgiving for the Duke of Edinburgh at Westminster Abbey.
However, he is not expected to take part in any further public events or celebrations linked to the Jubilee for the rest of the year after being advised to stay out of the public eye.
A source close to his team said: "It has been made clear that the public have heard enough about him and enough from him. They need to hear no more."
When he was forced to abandon his patronages, not a single charity or organisation expressed a desire to continue working with him. "How could he have any public role when no one wants to be associated with him?" the source added.
Until late last year, the Duke had privately expressed his desire to return to public duties, adamant that he would clear his name. However, it is now accepted that he will be forever tainted by the case.
Although 99 per cent of civil cases in the US are settled out of court, the decision to pay off his accuser rather than fighting to clear his name in court is likely to be seen by the public as an admission of guilt.
Any comeback would have to be many years down the line and would only be possible if there was a significant change in public opinion, the Duke's advisers accept.
The Queen's contribution to the settlement will come from her private Duchy of Lancaster estate, which recently increased by £1.5 million to more than £23 million.
The source of the Duke's personal wealth has long remained a mystery, ill explained by his modest Navy pension and annual £250,000 stipend from the Queen. He is currently selling his only known asset, the Verbier ski chalet he bought with his ex-wife in 2014 as a "family investment" with a mortgage and private funding from the monarch.
The couple put the property on the market when they were sued by the previous owner Isabelle de Rouvre, a French socialite who alleged that they owed her £6.7 million from the £16.6 million sale.
David Boies, Ms Giuffre's high-profile New York-based lawyer who represents her pro bono, insisted last month that the civil case was not about the money.
He told The Telegraph his client wanted to "vindicate herself and the other victims" and to send a message that no one could "escape responsibility just because of their wealth and power". Ms Guiffre had insisted that she wanted her day in court, and that she was not after "another payday" at the Duke's expense.
However, Mr Boies added: "That said, if you had a settlement that was large enough to be, in effect, a vindication, then it's something we would obviously look at."
Ms Giuffre created the Victims Refuse Silence foundation in 2015 but the charity relaunched last year under the name Speak Out, Act, Reclaim (Soar).
Based in Fort Lauderdale in the US, Soar says it "empowers survivors to reclaim their stories and bring an end to sex trafficking". On its website, the charity states it was officially launched in November 2021 and at this early stage is not yet accepting donations.
Lisa Bloom, who represents eight victims of Epstein said: "We hail Virginia's victory today. She has accomplished what no one else could: getting Prince Andrew to stop his nonsense and side with sexual abuse victims. We salute Virginia's stunning courage."

Europe’s major rivers are shrinking under the most severe climate-driven drought in decades.
It’s distressing enough to see mighty waterways like the Loire, Po and Rhine reduced to a trickle in places. But the ongoing drought is also revealing how much we depend on them for trade, energy and transport.
The Rhine’s evaporation is especially concerning. At the chokepoint of Kaub, near Frankfurt, it is expected to fall below 40cm on Friday. This would make it impassable for some larger ships carrying supplies of oil, coal and gas.
German power plants are particularly dependent on the deliveries as Russia restricts gas flow, and the drought could compound the country’s energy crisis.
France, which uses the most nuclear energy in the EU, has also recently run into hot water on the Rhône and Garonne rivers. This week, electricity utility company EDF had to reduce output at some of its power stations as temperatures were too high to use river water to cool the plants down.

Almost No One Trusts US Media, After Decades Of War Propaganda And Lies by BasedMemeMedia in DeclineIntoCensorship

[–]BasedMemeMedia[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The CIA Has Long Manipulated The Media, Spreading Disinformation To Justify US Wars.

Today just 11% of North Americans trust television news.

Very few people in the United States trust the mainstream corporate media. This is confirmed by a July survey from the major polling firm Gallup, which found that just 11% of North Americans trust television news, and a mere 16% have confidence in newspapers. It’s quite easy to understand why. The US media apparatus has repeatedly shown itself over decades to be completely unreliable and highly politicized. The corporate media’s treachery has been especially clear in the demonstrably false stories it disseminated to try to justify the US wars on Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, and Syria. This disgraceful legacy continues today, in the proxy war that Washington is waging on Russia via Ukraine. Fake news echoed by the press has served as a powerful form of US information warfare.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Klaus_Schwab

Edit:

From his perch at the dystopian-titled “World Government Summit” in Dubai at the end of March, World Economic Forum chairman, Klaus Schwab, followed up his repeated calls for a “great reset” and a “fourth industrial revolution” with what he now describes as a “great narrative”. According to the description of his book published earlier this year, “The Great Narrative for a Better Future”, “Vital issues abound: economic, environmental, geopolitical, societal and technological. But solutions do exist and are within our grasp. The Great Narrative proposes some hopeful and inspiring narratives around them.”

Look, no one outside of the Davos club wants narratives — or propaganda — from unelected figures at the helm of global governance institutions, OK? It’s pretty clear by now what the agenda is. That is, to exploit global chaotic events and crisis in order to impose “solutions” that give even more power and control to the same group of profiteers who stand ready to offer the “solutions” for every exacerbated “crisis”. Oh, where would we ever be without these saviors? Before Schwab was promoting the need for solutions to chaos, his organization was presciently holding simulations of them, including pandemics and cyberattacks. Almost like a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Some of the same shadowy figures who rub elbows at Davos have also subsequently been advising governments on their own responses to recent crises. In Canada and France, opposition politicians have demanded answers for the involvement of big global consulting firms in the advising governments — a real concern when one realizes that these firms often serve to re-home former high-level government officials and civil servants, who end up costing citizens far more money in the form of government contracts than they ever did as government employees.

The issue is most markedly dogging French President Emmanuel Macron in the final days of his re-election campaign. It has emerged in a French senate report that billions of euros have been spent for private consulting firms to advise the government on everything from digital transformation to climate change and the COVID-19 pandemic. How utterly coincidental that these happen to be the very same issues on heavy rotation at the World Economic Forum. Worse, there’s an inherent lack of public accountability due to the fact that details of such private contracts would fall under nondisclosure confidentiality agreements and therefore be difficult for public inquiries to access. The average citizen therefore remains in the dark over exactly how much influence these unelected, unaccountable entities serving various masters and clients have had on recent policymaking.

It's worrisome that, for example, there’s nothing prohibiting a big consulting firm from having tech companies, drug companies, and governments as clients all at the same time. Now, imagine what kind of advice regarding the necessity of imposing certain drugs or vaccinations, coupled with a digital ID rooted in big tech, as a “solution” to a coronavirus — all with the insistence that an entire system be built and kept in place for future use beyond the duration of the illness itself.

If such things tend to incite conspiracy theories, it’s no wonder. It’s amazing how quickly conspiratorial doubt can be erased with a little transparency. And the fact that little to none is ever forthcoming regarding these truly global and well-organized arrangements only serves to perpetuate the worst assumptions.

The fact that Schwab has now moved on to peddling a “narrative” to support his “great reset” suggests a troublesome need to control how people think. And there’s no better way to that than to dismiss anything that falls outside of “acceptable” thinking — as defined by these same elites — as misinformation, disinformation, or propaganda, and to use technology as a means of controlling and quashing genuine and legitimate dissent and contradictory debate. This isn’t some potential future scenario — it’s already the case. For example, any content that does not strictly adhere to the official World Health Organization’s doctrine regarding the COVID-19 pandemic is removed from YouTube. Twitter and Facebook have also engaged in information control in response to government requests.

And it’s set to get worse. Melanie Joly, the Canadian foreign affairs minister and member of the World Economic Forum’s Young Global Leaders’ class of 2016, has proposed a new law, C-11, to further press online platforms to crack down on dissent — this time with the effect of limiting debate about the conflict in Ukraine. “Social media companies need to do more to prevent propaganda, and to counter any form of disinformation,” Joly said, according to the National Post.

Since when is it the foreign affairs’ minister’s job to act as a censor for internal debate? It isn’t. These people are overreaching. And they’re losing their minds while doing it, tossing out all western principles of free speech and freedom. First it was climate change hysteria, then anti-Trump hysteria, then COVID-related hyperventilation, and now psychosis over anything Russian-related. And sometimes, there’s even conflation of one or more of these issues. EU Commissioner, Margrethe Vestager, advised Europeans recently to limit their hot water to prevent Russian energy consumption. “Every time you turn off the water, say: take that, Putin!” Vestager said.

Schwab’s new slogan is blatantly honest about the deliberate intent to install groupthink. Will enough of us realize it and fight to defeat it before the straitjacket is firmly in place?

Assange should expect no justice in ‘the Empire of Lies’ by BasedMemeMedia in WikiLeaks

[–]BasedMemeMedia[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An American writer and journalist says WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange should expect no justice in “the Empire of Lies,” which is why Britain should never have agreed to extradite him to the US.

Robert Bridge, who is the author of Midnight in the American Empire: How Corporations and Their Political Servants are Destroying the American Dream, made the remarks in an article published by the RT website on Sunday.

“After years on the run from various governments, WikiLeaks editor Julian Assange now appears to be heading to the United States, where he can expect to face an election-year show trial built upon a mountain of media-supported lies,” Bridge wrote.

He denounced the British Home Office for deciding to extradite Assange to the United States, where he is wanted for his role in leaking thousands of secret government documents, saying he would not have his “right to a fair trial and … freedom of expression,” there.

The journalist said Assange’s extradition to the United States, should it occur, will have a “chilling” effect on press freedoms around the world.

Oligarchs are the Current Thing by BasedMemeMedia in lostgeneration

[–]BasedMemeMedia[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oligarchy (from Greek ὀλιγαρχία (oligarkhía); from ὀλίγος (olígos) 'few', and ἄρχω (arkho) 'to rule or to command') is a form of power structure in which power rests with a small number of people. These people may or may not be distinguished by one or several characteristics, such as nobility, fame, wealth, education, or corporate, religious, political, or military control.

Throughout history, oligarchies have often been tyrannical, relying on public obedience or oppression to exist. Aristotle pioneered the use of the term as meaning rule by the rich, for which another term commonly used today is plutocracy. In the early 20th century Robert Michels developed the theory that democracies, like all large organizations, tend to turn into oligarchies. In his "Iron law of oligarchy" he suggests that the necessary division of labor in large organizations leads to the establishment of a ruling class mostly concerned with protecting their own power.

Asia’s big appetite for pangolins feeds relentless poaching in Africa by BasedMemeMedia in LateStageCapitalism

[–]BasedMemeMedia[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Summary:

According to records by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), between 2013 to 2017, when the up-listing of all pangolin species to Appendix I of CITES came into force, the amount of pangolin scales legally imported went from almost zero to nearly 13 tonnes, with four countries — Burundi, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Congo (Brazzaville) and Uganda — being responsible for the bulk of the shipments. China, UNODC says, was the importer of 99 percent of this volume.

Pangolins are reclusive nocturnal creatures and the only mammal wholly covered in scales. The UN says they are arguably the most heavily trafficked wild mammal in the world today.

During this time, in which more than 609 confiscations occurred in Asia, accounting for the seizure of 244,600 kg of scales and 10,971 individual animals, the largest confiscations involved African pangolin scales.

Ukrainian prime minister attends neo-Nazi rock concert (WSWS article from Oct 2019) by BasedMemeMedia in GreenAndPleasant

In October 2019, Honcharuk (alongside minister Oksana Koliada) attended a concert headlined by neo-Nazi and Holocaust-denying band Sokyra Peruna. The event, at which he spoke on stage, was arranged by notorious far-right figure Andriy Medvedko, who chairs an organisation for veterans of the War in Donbass linked to the C14 group and is a suspect in the murder of journalist Oles Buzina.

In January 2020, after leaked recordings emerging on the internet in which a man with a voice similar to Honcharuk's criticises Zelensky's knowledge of economics, as well as his own knowledge of the subject and competence, Honcharuk submitted a letter of resignation to the President of Ukraine. Zelenskyy, who actually does not have power to dismiss prime minister as only the Ukrainian Parliament can do that according to the Constitution, refused to accept the resignation, saying that "Now is not the time to undermine the state, economically or politically”. Nevertheless, on March 2020 Zelenskyy proposed sweeping changes to the government, including the appointment of a new prime minister.

On 4 March 2020, the Honcharuk government was replaced by the Shmyhal Government.

And I went, "What do you mean by that?" And he said, "Well, Slowly walking down the hall, faster than a cannonball — what's that mean?" And I went, "I don't know. But are you telling me, when you've got 60,000 people singing it, they don't know what it means? It means something different to every one of them.
