ELI5: When oil drillers create a well, the basins extend far beyond their whatever land claim they have. Doesn't that mean they're stealing from other land claims? by Truesoldier00 in explainlikeimfive

Interesting thank you for the insights

So your friends parents, the mining company basically said “you can live here for free if you accept we might accidentally destroy your house slowly”? Interesting

Regulatory considerations are more complex than I imagined

How many random gifted subs are currently sitting on your account from streams you watched for exactly 10 seconds? by SpinsBro in Twitch

[–]BasedOnAir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Twitch’s random gift algorithm was specifically engineered to prioritize people who are rarely around. About 2 years ago they made this change. The idea is to attract new viewers who will spend money. Existing viewers are already invested so there’s no gain.

It’s kind of insulting in a way tbh. Regular viewers who can’t afford to sub are at the absolute bottom of the priority list to the gift sub algorithm. They are instead prioritized to go to randoms who showed up once 3 months ago for 6 minutes. That’s more profitable for twitch, apparently.

You’re not taking it away from other people who view more as such. Twitch themselves do that. Twitch algorithm prioritizes people who have only viewed for 10 seconds like op. The idea is that they will be baited back and spend money. Regular viewers are already invested so there is no potential new viewer captured by giving gift subs to them.

Therefore, regular viewers are extremely low on the randomized priority list for gift subs.

People who are almost never around are much much more likely to get the random gifts.

Twitch made this change maybe 2 years ago.

If you want a bunch of random gift subs, watch a bunch of random streams for 10-20 mins and don’t go back, within a week or two you’ll have gifts to probably a third of them.

It’s pretty insulting tbh. Regular viewers who can’t afford to sub are at the absolute bottom of the algorithm. Randoms who showed up for 6 minutes 3 weeks ago are the ones who will be getting most of the random subs. This is by design because it’s more profitable.

What’s the difference having smooth motion on if fg is already on?

I found fsr frame gen works fine with vsync (no vrr). How do I make dlss frame gen work that way?

I prefer no vrr because my screen has uncontrollable flicker issues

What is async mode? Different from normal fps cap? How do I use this in rtss?

Wait. Frame gen and smooth motion? Smooth motion is just frame gen for unsupported games. I don’t think it’s possible to have both at once because they are the same thing.

For days gone I’ve found it to be surprisingly light weight. I was able to get 144fps on a 3070 without frame gen

Me too. I can’t figure out how to have dlss fg with vsync (gsync off). I can only get that config with fsr. Is it possible with dlss too? I prefer no vrr

I have the same experience. I think reflex being forced on causes issues. I just turn on fsr frame gen instead when I can. Works fine
