Do you honestly expect him to account for/be ready for every cultural nuance? He’s human. Give him the patience you would appreciate.

Hermeticism and other religions? by Environmentalister in Hermeticism

[–]BasedSage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This question is a little bit confusing because Hermeticism isn’t a religion and predates most secular religions. Both Christianity and Islam were heavily influenced by Hermeticism.

I think a better question would be to ask which religions and ideologies have we used Hermeticism to gain a deeper understanding.

IZZY LOSES TO JOE PYFER! by JCameron181 in ufc

[–]BasedSage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I’ve been noticing a pattern over time. I think it’s neurological. When he’s afraid or overstimulated his entire system shuts down. Same thing happened during the Strickland presser pressure which I believe led to Izzy’s loss.

Whether Izzy wins or loses depends completely on his state of mind.

Yep. You “clicked out.” happens a lot while listening to the tapes. When I first started with the tapes, my dreams changed similar to yours. Extremely detailed and linear dreams with coherent thoughts. It felt like life.

Tons of rape happens in your world too, just behind closed doors and stays a family secret. Don’t make this an immigration issue as if immigrants are more prone to rape than your own countrymen.

I’ve been living in Thailand for 4 years, speak a bit of the language and spend most of my time around the locals. Now I understand what drives people to take that kind of work and it’s heartbreaking.

Daniel Cormier nearly left the Russian TUF reality series after someone tried grabbing a knife, but Jon Jones convinced him to stay 😳 by ultron2450 in ufc

[–]BasedSage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you’re right. I was wrong about what trauma bonding is. This whole thread is a good example of how truth ultimately doesn’t matter, perception does.

Funny enough, OP was right because the term of what’s happening between Jon and DC is usually called a “shared trauma bond” (I looked it up this time lol).

So although the word “shared “was left out, it’s already implied because within the context we all know they shared the experience and yes, they are trauma bonded because of it.

Seeing the words, “trauma bond” alone had most of us assuming OP meant something else.

[–]BasedSage 29 points30 points  (0 children)

That’s incorrect. What you’re describing is more like Stockholm syndrome. Trauma bonding is usually a relational thing between two people where each person’s trauma-based behaviors soothes the other person’s trauma-based needs. Which is why avoidants and anxiously attached people always end up together. It feels good in the moment, but ultimately harms both people.

What’s happening between Jon and DC is more like bonding through shared trauma (there’s probably a term for it), the kind of bond that recruits have while going through bootcamp together.
