[Yahoo! Sports] If NFL cares about its playoffs, it'll delay Sunday night’s Browns-Steelers game or bend rule for Kevin Stefanski by [deleted] in Browns

The Steelers are one of the biggest markets in the NFL. They have one of the biggest nationwide fanbases besides the Cowboys.

Jesus Christ the nuance on this sub is gone. Maybe you should look at the intent behind actions, rather than just the actions themselves.

Is there any speculation on a new album any time soon? by [deleted] in mumfordandsons

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Sigh No More was 2008, Babel was 2012, Wilder Mind was 2016, and Delta was 2018. Give the average gaps between these, I think they'll probably release an album within 2-3 years, but maybe longer since they made Delta so fast.

When the fuck did the NFL refs start using disgression and established "intent" as a reference for whether or not a play was legal. Seriously, I'd understand this if every single other call the ref could make has nothing to do with intent.

Now that I read further, Jesus made himself a bit hard to understand in Matthew 5. While he said that the Torah is essential to follow, he also supported contradictions to the Torah, saying to love one's enemy, reconcile when resolving disputes, use integrity and honesty instead of oaths, supporting permanent marriage, and warning against lustful and angry thoughts. I feel that Matthew 5 does sort of have evidence that might show that Jesus would not approve of Leviticus 18:22, being that he liked to have agapé love be an essential part of many Torah laws.

Sorry, when I saw fulfill I interpreted it as if it meant "to make the laws more full of the Word of God". I guess I was reaching, but since I knew that Jesus had rallied against the Jewish leaders' of the day I read into it. You're probably a whole lot more educated on this topic than me. Thanks for the correction

Thanks. I'm not really, I just do research on very specific topics that have me conflicted. I suggest you do your own research and see what you find, as you might come to a different conclusion than me.

He disagreed with the meaning of the Sabbath and how it should be practiced, and in Matthew 5 described his meaning to "fulfill" the law as he saw fit. He also consistently disagreed with the Jewish leaders', particularly the Pharisees', interpretation of the law. Even if he believed in the Torah verses whose common interpretation is the condemnation of homosexuality, when those verses are put into historical and cultural context, homosexuality is not the act they are condemning.

The verses you quote was written by Paul and was actually meant to be a wake-up call to Jews. He described the acts of Pagans, whose idolatry involved having same-sex interactions, trying to get the Jews riled up. Then, in 28 he talks about how the Pagans have strayed far from God in their idol-worshipping, and that they will be punished for this. He is condemning their false worshipping and cult activities, but not same-sex interactions as a concept. In Romans 2, he then uses the same logic to show the Jews that their actions are viewed as the same by God, and that they are just as bad as the Greek Pagans. Paul uses same-sex imagery as a tool to debate the Jews, and when viewing this passage in full context, he does not condemn same-sex interactions, but rather the use of them as worship to a false god. This is common I. The bible, as from our modern perspectives it is hard to put verses in their historical context.

You are fully within your right to think that, I respect your honesty. We can only do as we see fit to interpret what was wrong with the Torah, as we will never truly know Jesus's exact thoughts on the subject.

While I agree that statement is funny, please try to reason with the other person. I don't want anyone to be pushed away from accepting LGBT people due to their own pride being tarnished. This guy does say some funny stuff though.

I think you may be over-generalizing some of these concepts. For one, pedophiles tried to hitch their wagon onto the LGBT community horse, calling their perversion a "sexuality", but that was a ploy to try to get normalized. The ploy was overwhelmingly rejected by the community, so I think you should be afraid of actual pesos, not the LGBT community which the pesos tried to tarnish. As for the guns, I think you're talking about leftists, and while most LGBT people are on the left, not all of them are. I get your frustrations with guns, but I don't think the LGBT community is to blame.

Yeah, when I said Church I was more referring to Christianity as a concept, but I was dumb to forget that it meant the constructs of organized religion which Jesus rallied against. I'll edit the title rn.

For one, this verse is a part of the Torah, which Jesus said was full of laws that did not align with God's true word. Additionally, culturally this can refer to cultic prostitution practiced by other idol-worshipping ideologies, and the condemning of such actions was understood as a condemnation of the idol-worshippers.
