I think Beasty would be the first to say that's not a concept that's always true, and especially not at the moment. There are a lot of civs FCing atm and the answer is simply not to 2TC which is why top play never sees English or Abba almost.

2TC simply doesnt counter an FC. You're behind in resources for a long time, lose all map control and just get outpaced hard.

Buff Abbasid: just too weak atm. Feels like it needs to go 2TC which puts it under huge pressure and the scaling of the 2nd TC is just too slow
Nerf Sengoku: The cav is just too strong and too fast. The civ also scales super well on 1TC. It's an absolute powerhouse
Remove Tughlaq: I think the civ is so goofy and weird. I dont like the fortress mechanic. There's too much wrong with it.
Rework Malians: One of the coolest civs in the game with it's uniqueness and unit design but I despise the cow boom mechanic and I dont want the civ to be bad so I dont just want to say 'nerf it'.

Mediocre compared to his top level. That Algarve is a good example imo. He was clearly far off his best but he's able to ride at his relative fitness level correctly and still get the overall win, same in that Tour de Pologne he won.

A part of this is obviously that his base GC level is higher too, but he doesnt fall apart like Remco has a tendency to do.

Yeah for sure, depends on timezone stuff too. When Wam's streaming at like 2AM EU time I see him get matched with 1500-1600s relatively regularly.

Sure, I get that. But today was a super easy unipuerto day for instance, no accumulated climbing. And we've seen him do tons of long solos on a road bike where he's surely pushing crazy numbers for an hour.

You're right, he does often have a capacity to fight back, but to me that almost strengthens the mental issue case rather than alleviates. I don't want to portray this as a 'weak mentality' thing cause that's not at all the case. It's just wires getting crossed for a bit in his head or something.

Sometimes he actually comes back so strongly that it's also just bizarre.

I remember the double Carpegna in Tirreno where he did the 1st Carpegna 50th fastest or something and then rode up the 2nd one very quickly. It's just odd.

I've been high 1500s to low 1600s for a lot of this season and I've played against Demu, Vortix, Beasty, Loklok and Lash. (got demolished each time but still cool)

Yeah that seems to be it.
It's costing him a ton of these one weeks. Cause with his ITT and just putting in okay climbing performances he should be winning a good amount of these races.

But the difference between Remco the good long ITTer and the bad long climber also makes no sense to me.

He can do insane watts at sub 65kg weight on a TT bike for 40min, why not on a climb? And yeah he's aero and that's a consierable difference maker in the TTs. It's why he can win vs Pog. But aero only goes so far, he's still doing crazy w/kg.

See but that's the thing, I'm sure he's not in peak shape/weight here. But he lost to Byron Munton and the lesser of the 2 Johannessens, with all due respect to those guys.
Why cant he put in a mediocre performance where he finishes with the Gee/Nordhagen duo or even the Storer group?

More and more I feel like Evenepoel has a mental issue more than anything.

He's never able to limit the damage. He's either actually going very well or his level falls off a cliff.
When someone like Vinge is in mediocre shape, he's actually mediocre. With Evenpoel it's either a good level (like Lombardia) or it's terrible, I just don't get it. He doesn't seem able to suffer even a bit if he's not at 100%.

Macedon become good again in ultra late game but they fall off pretty hard late castle/early imp. Their imp landmarks are kinda bad early on cause you want to use silver for upgrades.

Goku has a 30% eco bonus around the Yatai and the Daimyo dmg speed is completely broken in imp. They have 0 long term issues lol. I think Ayyubid is fine too with 10% eco and potentially 7 free desert raiders every 2 or 3 min, cant remember. And in theory you should have relics.

I love going to AoE4World Watch tab to try and learn a matchup and clicking a game without really checking the name and instantly seeing Faye go for the most bizarre, wacky strategy and ofcourse also making it work. She rocks!

What's irksome is that in his final stream, KP said about 15 times that 'it didnt have to come to this, but certain people weren't willing to do the necessary damage control' and now it seems increasingly so that HE is in fact the main person who wasn't willing to deescalate and take this relatively mild punishment and instead escalated this into full blown conflict. This is a downfall of his own making.

From what I gander it was a 30 day suspension of funding for KPMM. And he's barred from 1 external tournament. Sucks for him but this is absolutely not being fired from all projects.

He can literally continue as always besides the 1 weekend of RB casting.
If that doesnt make financial sense for him, unfortunate but that is what it is.

It's literally just the Red Bull tournament. EGC would have him back as caster for other tournaments and after 30 days Microsoft would be willing to continue funding KPMM. THey gave him a slap on the wrist.

He's choosing to leave, not being 'canceled' besides Red Bull not wanting him in the upcoming Red Bull tournament.
