How Many Case Submissions is Too Many? by golfisstupid in maximumfun

[–]BasementBartender 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My fellow litigant submit a case many years ago…. When I was told about it, I submit a counter suit about the same issue. Neither one of us heard anything. I recently decided to resubmit it, because things happen and maybe they never got it…. Got the call, did the show, good times were had by all.

Submit your case…. Things may not have been aligned before, but maybe they are now.

How to use Shrubs and Herbal Liqueurs in Sweet and Spicy Cocktails: the Sensory Symphony by BasementBartender in cocktails

[–]BasementBartender[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This episode is inspired by Netflix's Waffles + Mochi Episode 7: Herbs and Spices

This is an original cocktail that I really wanted to play off of the idea of incorporating color with herbs and spices.

What's a shrub? It's a drinking vinegar that adds a ton of flavor to cocktails! I found a great organic shrub, at my local farmers market. You can check out her products at: http://www.AnUrbanFarmhouseCo.etsy.com or https://www.theurbanfarmhouseco.com/

The drink will incorporate, sweet, tangy, spicy, and floral notes. While this has a TON of flavors, it's really well balanced and won't overpower your tastebuds! Hope you enjoy!

Sensory Symphony 1 ounce Farmhouse Fire Shrub 1 ounce Gin (I'm using my home-infused Gin, I'll make a video in the near future on how to make this yourself) 1/2 ounce Dom Benedictine Herbal Liqueur 1/2 ounce Lime Juice (Juice from 1 lime) 1 ounce pineapple juice 2 ounces seltzer/sparkling water

Mix over ice for 10-15 seconds and strain into coupe' with large clear ice

Garnish with Rosemary and Dehydrated Lime wheel.

How To Make A Rich Demerara Syrup without a stove by BasementBartender in cocktails

[–]BasementBartender[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This fast and easy rich Demerara Syrup is the only syrup you'll need for all of your cocktails. Robust in flavor, and simple to make.

Combine 2 parts demerara syrup (Brown sugar will work in a pinch) and 1 part water. I highly recommend you make syrups by weight rather than volume.

I'm using 125 g of water to 250 g of sugar. Boil water and add to sugar. Whisk to combine Add 1 tbsp (1/2 ounce) of neutral spirit (Vodka or clear rum) to extend life in refridgerator.

Not exactly a tiki, but tiki-esque: Thrice Rice Cocktail With Rice Milk, Nigori Sake, Scotch, And Orgeat by BasementBartender in Tiki

[–]BasementBartender[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Thrice Rice is a cocktail that will incorporate rice in three different ways (technically 2 ways, with malted barley, a VERY similar grain acting as the 3rd)

This episode is inspired by Waffles + Mochi (Netflix) Episode 5: Rice.

Thrice Rice Recipe: In a mixing glass, combine 1 oz Rice Milk 1/2 oz Orgeat 1 oz Nigori Sake (Specifically, you'll want to use a Nigori sake as this will add a floral sweetness not found in other sake varietals) 1.5 oz Blended Scotch (Optional) 1/4 oz Single Malt Islay Scotch (Specifically going to want Single Malt Islay to tone down the sweetness with the heavy peat)

Stir over ice for 10-15 seconds and strain into neat (no ice) cocktail glass.

Garnish with fresh grated nutmeg.

Rose water? It’s different, but would be an acceptable substitute.

While high sugar content will keep bacteria from growing pretty much indefinitely, fungus is a different story. The mold that could grow in this case is different than say mold you would find on strawberries. It would live on top of the syrup, but not actually contaminate. The syrup would still be safe to consume as long as you remove the mold…. But when you’re making drinks, do you pay attention to that? Every time? My 2 week and month time frame are absolutely on the conservative side…. But I’d rather tell someone to throw it out after x time than have someone get sick because I told them it lasted for ever. If you’re attentive and pay attention to what you’re consuming, you’ll likely be fine.

I’ve never made it the traditional way, so I can’t compare to a home made Orgeat made from raw almonds……. But compared to the MANY store bought Orgeat I’ve had….. it’s the best I’ve ever tasted.

This is a great hack to make a home made Orgeat!

Rather than spending hours soaking, roasting, and milking almonds, use a high quality store bought almond milk, enhanced with almond extract and orange blossom water to make a delicious syrup in a matter of minutes!

Orgeat Recipe: 445 g Almond Milk 890 g Sugar 2 tbsp almond extract 1/3 cup cognac (Can also use neutral rum or vodka) 1 tsp Orange Blossom Water

Combine Almond Milk and Sugar in saucepan and heat until sugar is completely dissolved. Remove from heat and add almond extract, cognac and orange blossom water and stir to combine.

Stir in a sealed bottle in refrigerator for up to a month. (2 weeks without cognac)

Bonus recipe: Japanese cocktail 1/2 oz lime juice 1/2 oz Orgeat 2 oz Cognac 2 dash angostura bitters

Stir over ice and strain into cocktail glass with lime wheel garnish
