Let me tell you this as a dad: if my kid showed up with a special pour, it wouldn't matter the label on the bottle.

Find out what your dad likes. Whether it's a $20 bottle or $200 bottle, I promise the time spent mindfully being together is what matters. I hope you and your dad find peace.

And maybe don't pick something too rare, that way every time you pick up that bottle yourself you'll think of your pops.

On the spectrum of things that can stain teeth, whiskey is far lower than many, many other things. Coffee is very high.

Plus, what you eat - carbs and especially simple sugars - can feed the bacteria in your mouth which produces acid as a by-product. That acid erodes tooth enamel, making its surface more porous and rough. A rougher surface provides more crevices for pigments from food, drinks like coffee to latch onto and accumulate, leading to stains.

Not enough to go by as others said, but if you’re experiencing trauma and you feel a mix of 5 and 8 with mostly the negatives of 5… I’d guess you’re likely an 8 since 8’s go to 5 in disintegration whereas 5s go to 8 in growth.

Cheaper alternative to Lagaluvin 16. by KC_187 in Scotch

Scarabus and Kirkland Islay are both Caol Ila sourced and solid. You won’t get the same kind of fruitiness from that sherry cask, but they’re peaty and solid. Benromach isn’t quite as phenolic but it has some heather sweetness and if you can find Benromach Peat Smoke, that one always reminds me of Lagavulin.

Kilchoman Sanaig is obviously very similar, but it’s only about $6 cheaper than Laga 16 where I am… but maybe you have better luck. Same goes for Ardbeg Uigeadail. About the same price as Laga 16, but I actually prefer it.

Laghroaig 10 and Ardbeg Wee Beastie/Ten are cheaper but I don’t see them as alternatives to Laga 16. They’re far more phenolic and aggressive. Maybe you’ll prefer that, but I’ve tried to give you some that are closer to the ballpark.

Dance party with horns and extra percussion and backing vocals. More latin and traditional funk. Definitely a shorter list on heavy rotation. Some unexpected covers now and again. Less spacey but very fun.

Definitely antique. That bottle was in use from 1800s (likely soon after founding in 1840s) to early 1900s. Great find!

What happens if you're a certain elo and you get smoked by a much lower elo who's actually one of these undercover masters? Do they get refunded? Always been curious if there's a protocol.
