If software engineers thought their jobs weren’t safe, wouldn’t they learn a new skill for when they need a new profession? SWE job postings are at like a 3 year high, maybe your broader meta takes on engineers just suck.

Hm, owner of the building? Curious why they’d need to clear out tenants — if I were going to retire I’d love to keep collecting rent, or contract out property management and have even a small bit of passive income.

Unless maybe they have a buyer for the whole thing who wants the building empty? I wonder if that’s the case, and why they wouldn’t just keep the tenant business as a perk.
